I know there is a filing fee then a court hearing and the license needs to be changed. Someone mentioned finger printing. Can that be done through the local police department? Also is there anything else I'm not thinking about? I couldn't find the filing fee online but I will call the court first thing Monday morning.

Also how hard is it to do the paperwork and represent yourself instead of using a lawyer? Thanks everyone :)

Here is some information for you, http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4925227_legally-change-name-florida.html

It does say that you need to obtain your fingerprints from any law enforcement agency.

And generally unless there might be a problem, you don't need a lawyer.

Hey thanks Janet I hadn't come across that site and it helped :) It also made sense of the fingerprinting needed

Thanks Samantha :) I had come across that and it has the basics but no specifics for my County :( I did find the phone number for the court though and they are open Monday so I can call then. I also found out I can get the fingerprints done for less than $20.
