So I have pretty much the crappiest job ever. I work at a chain restaurant, and a lot of the time it's chaos from the time I start my shift until the time I leave. I've never even spoken to some of the other people who work there because they work in different sections or on different shifts.

It's not the ideal work environment to come out in because like I said, it's chaotic and noisy. I'm going to start looking for a new job where I can go by my preferred name, pronouns, etc., and I'm also planning on going on T very soon. But I'm worried that I'm not going to be able to find a new job for a few months-maybe three or four. I still want to go on T asap though. However, logic is telling me I should wait until I have a different job before starting T.  Maybe it's stupid to worry about, but I'm paranoid that my voice will drop quickly or something and people will start making comments.

Has anyone else started T without coming out at their job or school or wherever and have people noticed changes? I feel like maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Well if it's busy and you don't tend to interact with any co-workers anyway they probably won't even notice. Even if they do....you're planning on leaving anyway, so who cares what they think ;D

Sevan has been pulling it off for the last 8 months...

If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Are you going on T injections or cream? From what I've noticed the cream works slower so they probably wouldn't notice as quickly. From all the videos I've seen guys on injections at "regular" doses show noticeable change within 2-3 months, sometimes sooner. But Jeatyn is right if you'll be leaving soon it probably does not much matter

My son has been on T for six months ... you can hardly notice the changes on him ... they are settle enough that he is passing all the time but as as someone who has known him I really can't see the changes on him

People see what they want to see. I am pretty sure one could be on HRT for a couple of years before most folks would give up on their original impressions of a person.
Like I said Sevan has been on HRT for 8 months or so and no one at hir work has made any mention of anything except hir voice, and that was in the first 3 months. After that they forget and move on.

What did Sevan say when asked about hir voice?  I'm curious because I might be headed down the same path.

When I started T, I was still at my old job and was only out to a few friends. I worked there for about 3 months before my changes became to obvious to continue there. Most changes dont come right away, or are not that obvious, besides the voice. And with the voice deepening you can always say you have a cold.  Good luck!

Sevan claimed a sore throat for the first couple weeks. After that ze just acted surprised that people thought hir voice was changing and left it alone.
Seems to have worked well enough.

Maybe you could say you got your tonsils out.

I think that would be perfect cuz you could start t now and then leave in a few months when the changes are showing and start your new job as male.

thanks for the responses, I guess I could just shrug it off or explain it away with a cold.

you're right, that might actually work out for the best.

I agree... Stranger's impressions of me changed completely by 3 months on T. It will make starting at your new job great, because you will have people treating you the way you want to be treated without requiring them to rewire their brains
