After 25 years of closeted crossdressing, I finally went out in public fully dressed. I went shopping and still haven't come down from cloud 9. Even though I suspect a few of the people I encountered knew my secret, no one said a thing. For full details please check out my blog and see me in my brand new outfits.

Please comment.

I've been so motivated by the stories I've read here, that I finally had the courage to take that next step myself. I'm so glad I did. Today was awesome. Just better than I ever imagined. There were definitely some tense moments, but that just added to experience.
I'm so grateful this site exists. It is because the people who visit here are so inviting, friendly, and most all supportive that today was possible for me. So from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU. :icon_flower: :icon_flower:  :-* :-*
There is nothing I LOVE more than being able to express my femininity in the silkiest, softest, & frilliest clothes in my closet.  I owe a Thank You to Alyssa Milano for being such a great feminine role model any gurl could ask for. :eusa_naughty: :icon_kiss:

Doc Martin used to make these kick ass steel-toed Mary Janes.  There were cute and they hurt.  Awesome combination.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

Bravo Alyssa!

You and your new outfits look great.
I wish I had the self confidence to even think of going shopping alone as Susan; just the thought of doing all you described in you blog frightens me.

Spacial, Thanks for looking at my pictures and for the very kind words. I agonized for days about even starting that blog. I want to be more active online with my femme persona, but have been so nervous that someone I don't want to see it, might see it. But joining this site and Twitter & some other transgender social sites, I found that I was only hurting myself by succumbing to my fears. Now, I'm coming out of my shell and not letting my fears control me. Even though we haven't met, you have been a very inspirational person for me, so thank you again. :-* :-* :-*

Susan, thank you for the kind words. I have faith you will one day go shopping without giving it a second thought. I was saying those exact words you said to me, to so many other ladies who've ventured out in public, just weeks ago. The courage those ladies showed me was so inspiring, that I was able to take that huge step out my front door and face my fear head on. It was so worth it. Good luck in facing yours.

Thank you to everyone else for saying such lovely words. I'm still weeping with happy tears. You are the most inspirational community this gurl is honored to know.  :-* :-*

I remember my first time out shopping whiled CD'ed. It was a blast.

On a related note, most bio-females I know hate being called "ma'ma." While I was out shopping, I was called "ma'am" left and right and it was great!

Congratulations!

Congratulations! The feeling is so good, isn't it? The best thing is that you get to try all the cool stuff on so you can see how it looks without imagining.

The only thing I feel a little embarrassed about buying as a man is underwear, so I try to stock up when dressed!

I read your blog and I think you are super brave going into a place full of construction workers. They are the only people who make me feel a bit uncomfortable when I am out at the mall. Then again, big groups of men like that make me a bit self-conscious as a man too!

Congratulations! I hope you have many more wonderful shopping experiences. :)  As for your outfits, the teal-blue top and black leggings look great on you.  Keep up the style! :)

You can do it Rebecca. It just takes that first step through the door. If your avatar is anything to go by you will have no problems at all. You look very cute and feminine.

Try it girl, go buy Rebecca a Christmas present

Congratulations!  I remember how terrifying that first time was, then how exciting and wonderful.  As others have said, once you get out your first time, the rest is easier.  Enjoy.
If you wanna read about my first time, you can find it here:

Again, congrats!

I was going to post this separately but I thought it would fit here.

I was out for dinner last night with sister in law (Jen) and I think I attracted a pervert. In the middle of Glenelg, a big tourist area.  A older guy followed us around, I was warned by a few shop keepers that I was being trailed. I managed to confront him in front of a security guard at a jewelry store." When I confronted him about following me  he replied that I was the most gorgeous woman in the world I felt quite ill.

He then walked quickly away away.

Still, I was in the busiest area in Adelaide for 3-4 hours, had dinner, ordered the dinner (still not happy about the voice) but waiters won't say boo.

I noticed a few people looking at me, no probs probably fancy me. I am after all, in heels I'm  about 6 foot, 65 kilos, a cute brunette with legs that go for ever. The only reason I say that is because Jen said so, when I asked why she thought guys looked at me it. She is short and gorgeous.

But I didn't like this fellow.

Oh well
Never get put off, no one else seemed to notice, the shop people who cautioned me that I was being followed would never have bothered telling a guy  ::). And the security guard woke up when we confronted the person, and looked to be concerned for us, and in fact stood by us until the fellow disappeared. And all he said was, are you ladies OK?
