DS9 was without doubt my favourite of the Star trek brand. Never watched Star Gate
Stargate is worth watching if you like well-written, pulpy, light-hearted entertainment, with strong and well-portrayed characters, where good guys and bad guys are generally easy to tell apart, and everything turns out alright in the end. Well, SG-1 is - in Atlantis it gets a lot more morally grey on both ends. Not to say that SG-1 doesn't go some fairly dark places - just that it's rare.
That said, it's not high art or anything. But I enjoy it a great deal, particularly because of how light-hearted it is.
It's also a huge contrast with Star Trek, because Stargate's humor actually works very well -
Window of Opportunity is the funniest single episode of any sci-fi show I've ever watched - whereas Trek's attempts had a tendency to fall flat (or worse -
Profits and Lace, anyone

?).
DS9 was very good. Or, it
became very good, right about season... 4, I think? I just wish they'd gotten rid of their attempted humor-centered episodes, since those were generally atrocious. But the arc where DS9 was occupied by the Dominion and the Cardassians was incredible.
