Hey all,
I dunno how often this is asked, but I wanted to know if anyone has experienced having a sore throat from taking T?
It may just be a coincidence that I received my first shot yesterday and started having a sore throat last night/this morning, but perhaps it's not completely unrelated. Let me know what you think  :)

hey man,

I got my first shot today, so I'll let you know if I do get a sore throat in the next few days or so. :)

Although I have heard of other guys getting like a lump in their throat when their voices started breaking, it was like they had to constantly clear their throats. (Actually this also happened to a bio guy I know. ) So it could be normal, but I would be very curious as to what other guys say ;)

I can't wait till I can speak from experience and not say from what I've seen and heard but anyways

From what I've seen and heard it's common for guys to have a sore throat and feel like they are getting a cold for the first couple weeks on T.

I've heard a lot of guys who first start T say that they got a sore throat in the first few days after starting.

Michael is right.  I had a sore throat starting about the second week on T.  It was nothing that prevented me from functioning and only a small annoyance.

The good thing is my voice also began to change fairly quickly after the sore throat.

Thanks for your replies, everyone  ;D.
I hope that it's just the T, cause I'm not really down for another cold/flu right now, haha.

Also, Congrats on starting T, Transquery! It's cool that we'll be going through changes simultaneously.

I started feeling a sore throat a few hours after my shot which got worse the next day. I don't know if it was the T or a cold type thing buuut I had one extra painful day. I felt like I needed to hack something up that was stuck towards the lower end of my throat. That really painful day ended when I hacked up a huge wad of red phlegm. It still feels weird...like there's something in my throat. My voice is deeper than it was (my old "deep speaking voice" is about the same tone as my current "normal speaking voice") but I think it might just be nasally. Not sure what to do since my nose is all cleared but my voice sounds as if it's clogged.

Yep, I got a sore throat about a day or so after starting on gel. Felt scratchy and otherwise fragile for a good week or so after that, during which time I couldn't speak for too long. Feels like a mild case of laryngitis, but it eases off fairly quickly :)

Say what!? That's just what I've been getting lately! :D Coming up to six weeks, and I'm impatiently waiting for my voice to break, so I'm really hoping this is why I've been feeling that lately..!

I'm hoping to start T soon and I don't wanna get a sore throat, those are painful.

I never got a sore throat, but it did get rough now and then. Mostly, I just had to clear my throat a lot and it sounded gravelly, but it never hurt. My voice never 'cracked' though, the deepening of my voice happened as a slow steady progression rather than a series of sudden drops.

Apparently it's very common for patients on any new medication to report cold-like symptoms, simply because they pick up bugs at the doctor's office and attribute it to the meds. The lump in the throat might be T related because of voice changes, and since bio guys go through the same thing, but I'd wager the cold and initial sore throat just seem related because you're hypersensitive to any changes after your first shot.

I had no cold or sore throat just a lump. I don't think it is from the doc's office as I never got a shot there. The lump came after the normal incubation time for a cold. Now for the ones who said it felt like a cold then maybe its true for some but I know it wasn't for me.

I don't think I've had a sore throat even once since I started on T (which was this summer).  Hope that helps?

So, it turns out I'm actually starting to get sick. Lol. That may be the reason why I've been having very weird sore throat waves.

The T, on the other hand, is surely the culprit in the case of me being EXTREMELY hungry all the time. AHHHH. I'm hungry right now, and I just ate a ton of food. I can smell the potatoes sitting on my kitchen stove...*drool*. I need to start working out  :P
