Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone is at Charing cross and if so, how long the waiting list was till your first appointment?
Also, do you know how long/how much RLE/hormone therapy they require before they will refer you for top surgery?
I read somewhere that with 6months of being on T, they will put you forward for top surgery.

The reason Im asking all of these question, is that Im currently looking into transferring from the Nottingham clinic to CX. I was referred to Nottingham back in 2007, but was made to wait 15months before my first appointment (as they said they wouldnt see me till I was 18 - they have now changed this and will see 16 year olds, but wont take this into consideration with my case :( ) after a few more delays and hiccups, they finally agree to put me forward for top surgery, I just need to see another consultant at Nottingham in January 2011. However I have been told not to "get my hopes up" because, after my extended wait, now the PCT are being very strict with funding, so may not even agree to fund my chest surgery. (It didnt help that I was told thered be no problem if theyd referred me within the past 18months or that I know of atleast 5 other ftm who have had, or have scheduled surgery before me, who all havent been "transitioning" aslong as me! I hope and pray y day will finally arrive :D).

So, while I still have the hope that the funding will be provided, I want to be prepared, or atleast look for an alternative route if there is another disappointment in my way.

Also, if anyone has had surgery with CX or even through Nottingham ,how long did you have to wait between referral and actual surgery date?

Thankyou,
and I apologize for the rambling and longwindedness of this post,

K

your PCT is subject to the local Strategic Health Authority
which is subject to the Dept of Health
which is subject to the Secretary of Health
who is subject to the British Governmnet
which is subject to the rules of the European Convention on Human Rights
and coincidentally is subject to the declaration of the United Nations which UK signed up to which obliges Britain/SoSH/DoH/SHA/PCTs to provide you with the recommended treatment which for you includes top surgery and full bottom surgery if you desire it.
Tell your doctor you need to be referred to get the top surgery ASAP.
If they stall and mess you about go find a law firm that deals with medical issues.

Nathan.

I had a 9 month wait for my first app. 3 months later was my second app, I got the ok for T and was told that once I was 6 months on T they would consider surgery.

Now I just need to wait.

Thankyou for the replies.
Nathan, I hope that goes well for you, I see you started T not too long ago, I bet youre so relieved to be on it after the 9 month wait :p
Ive heard all sorts of different time scales for appointments for various clinics, from two months to over a year!

And to Lilacwoman, thankyou very much for your response. If I do get rejected by the local pct, I will definitely be putting up a fight!
