WOW...they accepted me 100%!  While they said it would take a while getting used to the, pronoun switch...they said they would be supportive/still love me...you know?  Wow!  I was hoping for the best and expecting the worst and FREAKING myself out for nothing!  I wrote them an 8 page letter with a list of forums/FAQwebsites/support groups/PFLAG chapters close to where they live/+ I gave them the "TRANSforming families" book!  Man a MASSIVE weight has been lifted!

Woot woot!

Hi Pat:

I am so happy for you.  This is really a tremendous weight that has been lifted off your shoulders.

Hi Pat,

As often happens in situations like this we think the worst is going to happen and it almost comes as a shock when things actually go well.  Although its may feel like you were freaking yourself out for nothing dont forget that telling your family is such a big step to take - so well done you and its nice to hear they are being supportive !!

Ra, Ra, for you dear!  I can think of nothing better than to have the support of your family.  Keep close to them and you will be blessed beyond measure.

Yeah I almost feel like I'm different than a lot of transsexuals in the sense that I'm pretty much out to everyone in my life, such as classmates/profs, friends, family, with the one exception of my extended family, but I have yet to lose one single person in my life!  I've had a few LOOOOONG talks with friends about...you know..."Are you really sure this isn't a phase?" and just them kinda doubting my intentions but not one single person in my life has either outright refused to even attempt the pronoun switch or disowned me (for lack of a better word)!  Every single person has been hesitant, at worst, or fully supportive, at best!  I feel really lucky!!

Cheers: Pat

P.S. You're right Becky...it is a big step!

Wow! Congratulations Pat! That's wonderful!!!

It sounds like you have a wonderfully supportive network to fall back on when needed... which is SO important when times get rough.

Well done!
