In just over 3 weeks time I'll be going full time...finally convergence between my mental image of myself and how other people get to see me. I remember how life was 8 months ago...i would never have thought i could ever be in this place...or how far i would have come in such a short time. I can't even imagine being that person I was anymore, it's just too alien to my life at the moment to want to be stuck in that cage again.

So in the next three and a bit weeks I have to buy a load of work clothes and finally get my hair properly styled (it's only taken 8 moths to get it to the length it is now). Yeah it's a bit scary...but it's also exciting and I can't wait to get my new employee card with a proper picture of me on it (instead of some dude who looks a bit like wolverines IT geek younger brother). My team mates at work even want to mark the day with various treats (pink themed of course ).

Helena, it's amazing how HRT has complimented you so quickly. It's no wonder you're going full time. It's time to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

We had a q&a session on monday, which was largely redundant because they all knew anyway, and i was fighting off the tears when i told them how much their support meant to me. I really am incredibly lucky to work with the people i do...they're even making a conscious effort with pro-nouns and names, though there's still an odd amusing moment. he he. i don't mind, i've worked with them for years, i think it unreasonable of me to get huffy at the odd mistake.

i'm trying to arrange a team breakfast to say thank you as well. 

I am SO happy for you, Helena!  Even though it's still quite a ways off for me, I look back on the last six months and I'm amazed at how far I've come, too.  Six months ago, I could not imagine I could be out in public dressed as myself, I had no idea how I'd tell my wife and kids about me, or even if this was truly my lot in life.  I have a LONG way to go yet, but every week there's something new, it seems.  Congratulations!

I think we all celebrate this with you & hope you will find the process both enlightening & positive.

I have to agree with you that when the ball start rolling, it can get faster. I just discussed with my HR yesterday on how to tell management team next week, but by noon today many are notified because one of manager will travel next week, so HR decided to tell them today. the meeting went well.

Coming to the dark side as Janet put it, for the first time are some of my most cherished  memories.  From sitting in a chair properly dressed for the first time thinking this feels right, going on holidays as me for the first time one year before I finally left my family and friends and knowing I just wanted more of this life. To the final step one year and 3 months later where I was living my life, like I had never lived it before.

So from what you have said, I know you will do extremely well and remember these moments with all your heart, because just like me, those moments will be with you forever.

Oh, by the way as much as I like long hair, your hair style suits you very much.  So don't be to harsh on yourself in that area.  So Janet is this the dark side?  I think not.

Fantastic news.
I realise some people may find this a troublesome comment, but I don't mean to be awkward to anyone.

Possibly one of the reasons that your coworkers are being so nice is that you have included them. You are a very attractive woman, but men will still have 'willy scare' for any MtF. But you have managed to present and act as the woman you are. And they can accept it.

I actually tink that you're right Cindy...one of the women i work with said that she thought i'd gone about things in the right way, talking to people, being happy to answer questions if people had any and generally giving everyone time to get used to the idea rather than it just being a case of "bang! This is the new me!"

it also helps that everyone on the team has seen how much happier i've become as my transition has progressed...they remember the days of me sat at my desk...hood pulled up and not interacting with anyone.

Wow i wasn't sure before and didn't even think about it when i remarked about your eyes in the other thread and i thought you might just be someone's significant other or a person curious as to transitioning (with your phrase gender gifted geek girl) and definately not a TS woman so i am in awe
