Okay, I'm getting a haircut tomorrow and I want something different, so I wondered if anyone had any advice...

I don't really pass based on my face/specific haircut in the first place--I tend to look prepubescent regardless of gender so I'm pretty sure the main reason I ever pass is because people don't expect prepubescent girls to have short hair, haha.

So...I probably want to change the color too, and any suggestions are good; I just want something that doesn't look like middle-aged woman haircut. For some reason this has always been my greatest fear.

Actually I like your hair the way it is.  I really do, it's awesome.  You pass just fine to me in the pictures. 

Okay perhaps you might darken it and make it a bit shorter and less scruffy if you really want a change.  Tell the stylist to use a number 4 clippers on the sides to give it a more close cut.   

How much darker do you mean? (It's grown out in those photos so it'll definitely be a bit shorter, though I kind of need the scruffiness because my hair's too flat otherwise.)

...Now I'm wondering if I should just get it like I normally do. I don't dislike it but it's boring me.

I mostly agree with Squirrel. I think you'd look good with shorter sides, and keeping the scruffiness on top. As for colour, experiment and go with a colour that appeals to your personality. Maybe on the brown side of blonde rather than being so close to platinum. From the photos it looks like you have cool tone skin, so probably better to stick to cool shades like ash rather than golden blonde. You can look up colour charts online to get ideas.

But I do like your hair as it is now, it seems to suit you.

the cut does look good on you but i agree that a darker color would be better for your passing. short platinum blonde hair is a lot more girly than short hair of any other color (umm except maybe weird shades of red, or pink/purple), at least here there's a lot of girls who wear their hair like that :/

i hardcore-bleached my hair last summer, and it was kinda like yours, only with shorter sides, like everyone's saying.... i liked it quite a bit, so maybe really try that.
