FAUXHAWK buisness?

There have been a few topics about hair recently and I'm sorry to clog up the front page with this, but I feel like I need some advice.
I've been kind of dysphoric about myself lately and most of the dysphoria is about my face. I think the way I style my hair has a massive difference, if I don't brush my fringe back or spike it up then I feel that that makes me look a load more feminine. When the hair is out of my face and/or a bit spiky, I feel like I look more masculine.
I was thinking of getting some kind of mohawk or a fauxhawk just because the sides are getting too long. This is the second most recent picture of my face, so do you guys think a mohawk/fauxhawk would suit me at all? I'm kind of paranoid that if I get the sides too short my head would look really round or small.

Also, what about colours? I've been dying my hair black for nearing 2 years, and I'm wanting to let my hair go back to it's natural dark brown, then dye lots of shades of brown, dark red, and some dirty blonde.
So what do you think?
Thanks guys.

don't get a Mohawk unless your a street punk. and I am very adamant about that :p

but seriously I don't think you have the face shape for it.

if you absolutely have to do the poseur ahem I mean fauxhawk :p dont trim the sides at all. just gel it up.

btw i'm just giving you a hard time haha. I had a mohawk for three years, so i'd say im an expert on it.

I wasn't exactly set on one but I've just become so bored with my hair because nothing I do looks that great, and I thought it being shorter and spiked up might make me look more masculine. The sides really irritate me.. I'm so tempted to just shave them.

hehe well don't let what I say stop you, (not that I think you would :p)

but I think if anything shaving the sides would make your head look bigger. but since I'm only seeing that one pic and one angle its hard to say.

you could try spiking it up as it is for a general idea.

the best way to put it up is get the blasting freeze spray, comes in a yellow bottle with a silver top that looks a little like an air horn. its found almost anywhere with the hairsprays, and hold it up in sections spray and blowdry. it holds pretty fast that way. the hairspray is only like 5 bucks too so it couldn't hurt.

I'm going to have to agree with Eve of Chaos - don't get a mohawk unless you're a punk. Personally I think fauxhawks are whack. Why would you want to moosh your hair into a point (and not have a real mohawk) lol? That's just me though, but I know there's plenty of other people out there that just view that as a metro thing.

Anyway, if you say you look better with it spiky and shorter, why not just go for that?

You could have it really short on the sides and spike it like this http://www.eanext.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/4f315_2006-men-short.jpg

You could have the messy pseudo-fauxhawk http://menhair.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/2fef58ff31is055.jpg.jpg

You could have kind of the traditional, clean cut look http://www.men-hairstyle.net/frizure/short/jensen-ackles-hairstyle.jpg

If you want to do something more off the wall you could do this: http://haircutsformen.org/buzz/haircuts/buzz12.jpg

Or you could even do something where the sides and back are buzzed but the top is a little longer like this http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mhQAVBs2dNs/TErEpjqzX2I/AAAAAAAAASw/tZBYQKs0zQQ/s1600/curly+5.jpg

Hey man I've seen a lot of guys lately with the faux-hawk cut who just don't faux-hawk it. So that cut can give you some options. Like this

http://menshair.about.com/od/picturegalleries/ig/Celebrity-Hairstyles/Men-s-Haircut---David-Beckham.htm

I'm really bad at saying what might look good on someone sorry. There are a lot of different variations of short on the sides, longer on top. I'd suggest just looking up mens haircuts with short sides or something similar then either finding out the name of the cut or bringing in a pic to your barber or stylist. The caesar cut is a good one if you want it really short. Good luck man :)

Chaos; What kind of angles do you want? I can take some photos if you like. And I would spike my hair up right now but I think it's too long? As it got longer it flattened down a lot (but had some kink to it because of this perm I haven't fully gotten rid of yet) and I liked that look but I feel that that made me look more feminine. And if I spiked it up with wax it looks kind of silly just because of the length and that I'm not that great with spiking it up ha ha. I think until I'm on T I'll have to spike it up just to look more masculine, which is kind of annoying.

insideontheoutside; Why all the hate on fauxhawks? Ha ha.
I think I probably will go for shorter(sides) and maybe spikier(front/top).. Maybe something like the second link you posted. That's pretty nice!

Michael Alexander; I like that photo.. I could maybe go for something like that on days where I'm not trying to pass so much, but I really like it.

Sada; I'd like to end up with a medium length sort of messy thing like what Noel Fielding sports, but I really doubt I'd pass with that at the moment!
And don't worry, I've felt bad about my haircuts before but never angry/or depressed. I kind of just waded it out until it grew long enough to have something done with it again. I think I might go with letting the top part grow a bit longer, but the sides are definitely annoying me right now. Though you should see the back of my head.. 8(

if you do it the way I described length will not be an issue, I put up my hair that way and if you look at the pics i left it was pretty big. I'm sure you would want it as long but it would give you an idea to go off of more than anything.

but some side shots and angled front would help, also pull your hair back so I can see the rest of your forehead. basically what you'd look like shaved haha

Actually, unless you're in a punk band (which had a sell-by date of like 1995 at the latest) - the worlds 'Mohawk' and 'business' really don't belong together.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

true,
but since its Mohawk "buisness" its fair game.
I would think since its not a real word it can mean whatever they want it to mean.

insideontheoutside

Didn't the word mohawk originate with the tribe of indians by that name?

Chaos; I saw the pictures, but I'm not a fan of having it stuck straight up like that, I'd much rather have it "mooshed into a point" because I know I'd just look silly with it straight up. I'll get to taking some pictures in a second.

tekla; Forgive me but I was only born in 1995.

And "business" to me, just looks wrong, even though it's right.

haha i didn't expect you to want hair like that, i was just showing what a mohawk really is and letting you see that i know what i'm talking about.

(if you didnt know that was actually me in those pics O.0)

what your describing is generally a fauxhawk and in no way a mohawk. but my method would still work just fine, try folding it over. its for experimentation anyway.

Michael Joseph

I hate this pic of me cuz i dont think i pass, but i have a fauxhawk, and this is right after my last haircut. its the shortest ive had it

Berren

Chaos; To be honest, I don't really know the complete difference between a mohawk and a fauxhawk. I generally see mohawks as being tall and with either very short sides or just completely shaved off. I'm sorry but I know next to nothing about differentiating them.

And I would of never guessed that was you! In that case I love that bullet belt.

I guess I should probably change the title then, ha ha.

Eve of chaos

haha well fauxhawks are fake Mohawks, faux means fake so yeaaaaah.

and everyone always seems to like that belt :p

Berren

I know. I know faux is fake. I know they're fake mohawks. But I can barely tell the difference since apparently what I described was a fauxhawk?
I don't even know any more.

Where did you get it? It's amazing and I'd love one!

O i bought it off ebay a few years ago, I bought it off some retired army vet for $20

so i get the satisfaction of knowing they're real shells haha. its not something that's mass produced. not real shells like this anyway.

Okay, here are some pictures.
I'll spike my hair up soon, but I'm worried that if I mess it up I'll have to wash it all out again..

As for the belt, I'm going to have to look around for something similar.
I wouldn't mind fake shells.
