For the record I am 21. I look kinda like I am 15 so I don't raise any cashier eyebrows. Anyways sometimes I like to buy boy toys (The ones I should have gotten when I was a boy) and I play with em when I feel crappy about having my boyhood mostly stolen. (I have RC cars, beyblades and all that fun ->-bleeped-<-) I guess I had a good childhood but I still feel kinda upset that I didn't do/have a lot of things that normal guys did. IDK I'm eather really odd or just stumbles upon a coping mechanism.

not odd at all, I also am 21 and invest in stuffdies and other cute girl toys for the same reason:p

Tad

Yeah i still browse the toy section and get stuff from time to time. I like RC cars and those finger skateboards and bikes, and yo-yo's and toy cars.. and all sorts of stuff. Oy NERF guns.

I still play with barbies (i like to buy the asian ones because i like to think i can relate to them more), but i still play with dinosaurs, army men, hot wheels, and transformers. =]
its normal to feel that your childhood has been robbed because you were raised the wrong gender =P

I had dragster toy cars, dinosaurs, a robot dinosaur, loads of LEGO, many stuffed animals (a spider, an ant, a snake, a styratosaurus, a lemur, a bat, a raccoon), and other fun toys. I wasn't robbed of my boyhood, I played with the toys I liked when I was little. What I want is a normal teenaged boyhood, I want the whole teenage boy experience. I'm in my mid-teens and my voice still hasn't broken yet!

I never buy toys.  *hides avatar*  I do get legos occasionally, I guess that makes up for the ponies.

As of today, I am once again the proud owner of a nerf gun.
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love

I want an RC helicopter. I would buy a nef gun. Nothing to do with reclaiming my childhood. I just think it's fun. However, I have been running in and out of the house like an over grown 10 year old to see the eclipse tonight.

Heck yes!  I've got this sweet Nerf Great Ax!  It's totally awesome!

I also like to watch cartoons and collect trading cards.  I wonder if I am trying to reclaim my childhood... I wasn't allowed to play with very many cool toys when I was growing up.

Yeah, your silly...

Not really, I just like to say that

There's all kinds of stuff I'd like to rock with but I think I'm too old  :-\ :P :-\

Well I had more or less the right childhood thanks to my amazing accepting parents but even so I have recently begun re-buying some of my old toys on ebay.

In my case its not because I never had them, but because I am getting old and nostalgic for my schoolgirl days, when I was almost pretty.

I bought a couple of Tressy dolls the other day. My Tressys were like my constant companions all through my early school, and I recently found an old vintage Girls world styling and makeup head. :D

So no, I wouldn't say you are odd at all. Lots of people do the same thing. Ok most of us do it out of nostalgia for the toys we actually had, but anyone looking on will just assume that that is why you are doing it - so absolutely no need to hide it.

Hell yes I buy toys! Besides being cool and fun, toys always keep you tapped into that imaginative, creative energy that all kids have that gets slowly sucked out of them (if they let it) through school and adulthood.

I also make random trips to the playground (I'm lucky enough to live near a park where there's a jungle gym and everything). And no, I'm not some weirdo. I just happen to think that a lot of those things that people discard because "adults" aren't supposed to do them have multiple, positive benefits. I think it's good to have some "recess" time every now and then where you fully let go of adult stress and responsibilities and feel free. Yeah I guess some people can take up racquetball or something, but I personally think the playground is a hell of a lot more fun.

My step father took all my childhood to the dump... Yes, my childhood was thrown away without permission... To replace it would cost thousands of dollars and still it would not be the same

You only live once... At least I have some fond memories

That was really quite mean and wrong.

Take care Virginia

I always wanted a BB gun when I was a kid and not allowed to have one. So a few weeks ago I trotted down to wallyworld and bought myself a Daisy BB gun like I always wanted. Took it out in the woods a few times and shoot at targets or random things (not animals). I have no desire to kill things, just SHOOT things.

Totally making up for lost boyhood with this one!

I am in the coveted 18-35 male marketing demographic!

I don't buy TOYS.

I buy sporting goods, electronics, gadgets, and other items that I clearly NEED. But they are not TOYS.

Hahaha.

Not really *Looks at his Ironhide figure sitting on the computer tower* I have a Transformer's collection like mad and find RC cars highly amusing, I didn't really get things like those when I was living with my father but when I was with my mother for a few years she let me pick out what I wanted. I'm mostly a tech toys person now, new game systems, computer upgrades, electronics, etc, but I still get some things people call toys sometimes, like those nerf bats, oh me and my roommate have fun with those. Don't know if you count prank supplies as toys or not, they're still great for a laugh though (yes, I'm a prankster, I admit it!)

But yea, there's nothing wrong with getting toys man, ya didn't have the chance to get the types you liked when you were young, plus, well, there's some 'toys' you are never too old for.
Anything worth doing is going to be a challenge, after all, how can you feel proud of something that's just handed to you without some effort?
If I wanted the easy route I'd stick to being miserable, but that's just not my style.

Never thought my childhood lacked anything in the toy dept. I had plenty of boy toys. My parents were pretty accepting. I don't buy toys now, though...

You'll shoot your eye out, kid!  :)

Yea I never really missed out in the toy dept either, most of my friends were boys anyways, and whenever I played dolls with my cousin she'd let me be the boy doll while she played the 10 other ones.

I do tend to get hyper at times and play the cute little boy role when I'm out with my mom lol its fitting I guess
