Autumn Sandeen On The DADT That Forgot Me

President Obama has signed the repeal of DADT into law.   Gee, sure is funny I don't hear cries of 'crumbs' emanating from the predominately vanilla flavored GL peanut gallery aimed at the POTUS since that historic vote happened.

But while the GL community is celebrating their early civil rights Christmas present today,  the trans community is still dealing with conflicting emotions.

While we're happy for our GLB brothers and sisters that discrimination has ended for you and you have a achieved one of your civil rights legislative planks after a 17 year fight, the reality for the trans community is that once again your so called trans allies were Left Behind.

Does Sandeen want cheese with this whine?  So much for the "pure motives" of Sandeen's Get Equal actions.  DADT was a gay and lesbian specific policy with zero trans content.  It's repeal is thus also a pure gay and lesbian issue with no trans content.  These whining "left behind" essays are nothing more than proof that those who talked about trans-jacking of LGB issues were right on the money because trans-activists HAVE to make everything, all the time, about the trans.  This is why there is a backlash you know.  If trans activists feel obligated to throw a wet blanket over a momentous moment such as this for gay and lesbians, it will be remembered.  When a Monica Helms whines she wasn't invited as head of TAVA, which did not one damn thing to bring about the repeal of DADT, it will be properly seen as totally inappropriate, selfish and unwillingness to work on any issue of civil rights not directly trans related.  Why should anyone ally with people like that?

Trans activist have take the position that it is right to hold anyone else's civil rights hostage.  Want to change this?  Denounce the current self appointed selfish, won't play with others trans spokes people.
