The subject title sounds a little more dramatic than it should but oh well.....

I lopped off about six inches of my hair!!!   Damn broken and split ends....no way I could afford to go have my hair cut so yup...I did it myself.  Seems kind of silly to post about it but it's something I have obsessed about for a year now.

Strange feeling...not what I expected.  It actually felt good to cut it instead of the horrible sense of dread I had when considering it for the last year.  It's down to the middle of my back and I'm 5'11 so it's still pretty long I guess.  Oh well...I was bored and thought I would share this with ya'll.

Oh yeah...it's still up in a towel so I don't really know how much damage I did LOL.

ha I bet it looks great. My friend cuts her own hair (She has shorter than chin length hair too!) and it always looks great.

I don't like to spend a lot of money on my hair. So in between professional cuts, I'll give myself a trim.  I cut the bangs and wills sometimes shorten it a bit.  It works fine.  Brandi, I'm sure that it will look great to have it all nice and even again.  You do have plenty in any case, it could be evened up professionally if you don't like it.

I grew my hair really long like that once.  It took years. When I decided to get it cut, I couldn't find anyone locally who would cut it.  They didn't dare touch it!  I suppose that some women are very unhappy when their super long hair is cut and a beautician wants nothing to do with that situation.  I had to whack it off myself so I could go in and have it done right.

My roommate had 16 inches cut last year and she cried for two days.....they weren't supposed to cut that much.  She got over it and the fact that the hair was donated to a charity that makes wigs for cancer patients helped her feel better about it.  Three weeks later she was tickled with her new style and length and says she will never go back to having hair that long (hers was past her butt when it was cut).

That's what I'm talking about.  And the stylist catches the brunt of the anguish. I'll never grow mine out long again.  I have naturally wavy hair and when it is long, it is pulled straight.  I think that the shorter cut with the natural wave looks better for me.  Besides, I'm older now and generally longer hair looks better on younger women like you Brandi.

Well me becoming jealous does not take much i actually spend three days to four a week carefuly shaving my head (as to avoid dangerous cuts which can occur with a razor blade) with good lotion and ladies razors...
Cannot find a shop where they actually use a razor?
would you believe at a good upscale place in this shopping plaza the lady said they do not do any cuts with shaver or razors only use electric clipers...
I was looking for the hot towels, wet shave, little rub a rub treatment, heck i was even willing to pay for that---and a little know secret i am a cheapskate when it comes to that stuff....
so alas a few inches for you.. I am jealous it would take me two years to grow a few inches i think maybe on the sides of my head.....
If ever transitioning it will be wig city i fear!

Way to go Brandi!

Wish I could grow mine that long, but my forehead keeps growing (gonna reach that point on the top of my head soon)...like Ricki...it will have to be wig city for me too  :'(

I'm sure it looks great.

Hugs..........Laurie
Ya put your right foot in.  You put your right foot out.  You put your right foot in and you shake it all about.  You do the Andro-gyney and you turn yourself around.  That's what it's all about.

Is there a wig post or a recent one?  I actually have a few cheaper ones and do not like them that much they take a bit of getting used to if you are going to wear them a long time????
If i had hit the stupid million dollar lottery this evening i could of purchased some transplanted hair, but alas i am still poor!
Boo Hooo...
But Rich with friends in here.. YEAH=====

Thank God you cut it.  How can you be so frugal with your hair, though?  I'm obesessive about mine.  If I'm going to spend a few thousand to get my jawline shaved, and thousands more on hormone regimens, the least I can do is keep my stylist busy, right?  I'm so bloody shallow.  It's awful.
