Neither the City of Fort Lauderdale, nor the State of Florida, specifically enumerate gender identity or expression in their anti-discrimination laws, although Broward County (which contains Ft. Lauderdale) did pass such a law in 2008, as did next door neighbors the Cities of West Palm Beach and Lake Worth and all of Palm Beach County in 2007, nearby Miami Beach in 2004, and Key West and Monroe County in 2003. Conspicuously absent from this list is Miami-Dade County or the City of Miami.
