Alone on new years eve

Well, once again I'm going to be alone on new years eve. This time is different though. The past 5 or so years it's been because my night shift security job has had me working alone on the holiday, and I've decided to take the extra pay rather than book the night off. It was my choice that had me alone but even so I'd end up feeling lonely as I walk around empty buildings and parking lots.

This year is different. I wasn't booked to work it this year since it's a Friday night and I was looking forward to my first new years celebration in a long time. I tried to ask around on facebook to figure out what I could do and who was available. It turns out that everyone has plans and so I'm going to end up spending this holiday alone once again... and I'm not even getting paid this time  :D

So, since misery loves company and all I thought I'd ask who else is in the same boat and what are you going to do ? I'm thinking of popping in a movie or two and making myself a nice dinner. When midnight comes around I doubt I'll even notice. If I do maybe I'll give one of my kitties a smooch if one's in arm's reach  ;)

Hi Amy :-*

I'm alone as well, I'm coming out of a bad cold but even so I would be alone. I like New Year that way  My birthday is New Years day. I have over the years decided I like being me on my birthday. It has changed over the last few years, I now have friends, but I feel so bad I'm going back to bed. Great. Happy New Year  Post doll, post,

Hugs

I am alone too.

Not by choice, I am young, wasting my youth away.

But next year I am partying like there's no tomorrow.

I finished work at 9pm, and have to start at 8 on Saturday morning, so I won't be partying this year.

11.45 called in. Must be a record. And I'm still vomiting and can't keep food down.

I work every NYE.  Have for decades.  Matter of fact one of our running jokes is that you can do just about anything you want on this job except show up late and have NYE off.  So when the clock strikes 12 I'm not popping champagne corks, or blowing noisemakers - I'm making balloons drop, or creating confetti blizzards, bringing father time in on a line, or doing some gag.

If nothing else content yourself with the same notion that we have, that NYE (like St. Paddy's Day) is just amateur hour and its not missing much.

But is there some public deal, like the ball drop in NYC, or in SF they shoot off fireworks over the Bay or something like that?
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

My wife and I will be "home alone". We're getting a take-away and watching a movie. I'm getting over flu, so I'd be exhausted within half an hour if we went out.

Next year we'll have a party!

I also will be home alone.  My g/f  is in another country and we will be together on a chat room, at midnight her time.  Then I will pop into our chat and say Hi.  finish out the year by reading and go to bed early.

This will be the third NYE in a row where I would not be spending it with my family. My wife is working (night ministry at a homeless drop-in shelter) and my kids will be with friends.

Instead of staying home this year, I'm going to go into San Francisco en femme. I've been a family-man-home-body for 23 years. So, I think I'll do something different this time.

I've spent New Years alone for the last 5 years... There really isn't anywhere to go or anyone I care to hang out with where I live plus I'm not quite the party animal I use to be

I often wish some of the folks here at Susan's lived nearby

Home alone, safe and sound, just how I like it.

I'll be hanging out by myself this New Year's so you aren't alone. I'm totally cool with it. My roomie is going out with some friends. I'll probably be in Susan's chat in between playing X Box, playing with the doggy, playing on the computer and generally having a relaxing, enjoyable time :) I don't usually spend NYE alone so I'm going to relax and enjoy tonight!
