Sisters, I'm on my 8th session and if we could put a percentage say 70% only is gone till now but I wonder how long and how many more sessions I need to go more to eradicate it completely. It seems to be like it's never-ending. I hate electrolysis, I did it once and it makes like craters on your face and leaves permanent scars.

Those who did laser, how many sessions did you do to eradicate it completely?

It would be an interesting question to me, too.

I purchased a Tria home laser device last October. I used it just several times, as I have been a little bit busy. I think the pain could be comparable to that from professional laser treatment. My feeling is that the home laser device works.

I will let you know the progress in 2 or 3 months.

I'm sorry its working out that way for you... After my 8 sessions I've had  regrowth after a year other than vellus hairs.  I do know that not all laser treatments are created equal. I did laser in 2006 and nothing really came from it. Just nasty redness and lots of blisters. I'd definitely find out if they're reputable and whatnot.

Also unfortunately not everyone takes very well to laser.

I have had 5 sessions so far and will probably need one more to get rid of the last stubborn few.  There are plenty of grey/white hairs left but I never expected the laser to work on them.  They are not as noticeable anyway.

I guess it depends on how much beard you have and how stubbron it is, assuming the laser and operator are doing their job properly.  It is important to keep your treatments in phase with the 6 week hair growth cycle too.

Unfortunately this is one of those areas where pretty much anyone can rent a space, get some equipment and hang a shingle.  It's unregulated.  I'm lucky enough to live near a place that actually trains laser techs, and the person who runs it is known widely as being somewhat equivalent in her field to the reputation Dr. Brassard has in his.  So I know I'll be well taken care of.  Not one of the lower-priced places, obviously.

I've also heard it said that with each treatment, the laser kills 20% of the remaining hairs.  That doesn't sound like much, but if you do the math, you discover that after 6 treatments, you should be down to about 30% of the original growth, and it shouldn't take forever to get to where there's virtually nothing left.  White/grey hairs, of course, will need electrolysis.  And the growth cycle is also important.  If you miss an appointment, don't expect not to have to basically start over.
