Of topic: Years ago when I was pretending to be male I was at a beach and wandered into the shopping area wearing a top hat, budgie smugglers and that was it. I went into a shop to buy something and there was a queue, and I was at the end of it. I got served straight away by the manager himself.
Aristocratic presentation does help ::)

That's awesome! Glad they didn't kick you out, gotta love speedos.

I've got a question for Ashleyjadeism - I guess it depends how old you and are who else you've come out to - are you worried specifically about response from customers? How come your facebook is your business portal anyway? Maybe you should have that as a tailored website.. I like to keep facebook personal.

The reason I use facebook, is because it is not strictly a business... It's hard to explain how I operate. I guess my website is similar to BlenderGuru.com

I operate currently as a non-profit organization of one, but I treat it like a real business. I'm laying the ground work to begin building my business when I have the education to be taken seriously. I don't get alot of BIG projects yet, but I attach the logo and name of my business to everything I do. I've done several small projects for people, and did a couple models for a short film that is in production.

It may seem like I'm making a big deal over nothing, seeing as my business is very small and makes no money currently. But the way the 3d industry works, I need to get my name out there and I need to get some projects finished so I have something to show in a portfolio.

I write and film tutorials for a program called Blender 3D and Ido alot of business through public forums and Facebook pages associated with those forums.

Also, more and more businesses are operating on facebook. It is kinda like a direct link to the customers. I do have a website, but I'm limited because I use a free adress so I have to work with what I get. It is really good though.

I'm starting to think however, that my gender or appearance will not effect my business a lot because I dont planon doing much face to face dealings. Alot of my work is already done over the internet.

Also, my profile picture is an example of my work, although a very old example... I think I made it when I was 14 almost 15? Can't remember exactly.

My age is another reason my business is reletively small. Even though I have the same level of skill and quality in my work as other 3d artists, a company will not tend to work with me because I lack "experience". Most companies require 4 or 5 years of experience in the industry.

It is fun to show up some of the guys who have been in the business for 20 or 30 years though. :)
