Yo, mom wants to watch some positive trans movies (not the ex-trans stuff that my dad has). I was watching a MTF one on TV a few nights ago that apparently she must have been listening too, because she started asking me about it tonight.. wondering if I had a copy etc. Since MTF often has different struggles the FTM, it'd be nice to find some FtM movies for momsy. Preferably with happyish endings where people don't get murdered.

I've seen Call Me Kade, and will likely reccomend that to her. Any other ideas? It'd be nice if they follow the transition process too.. like Call Me Kade did.. however I'm probably asking for too much.

some ftm guy

i would say Becoming Chaz but that's not even in theatres yet at Sundance. try Transgeneration probably on Amazon or something. it has both mtf and ftm but that's going by the cover, haven't actually seen it.

The Boy Who Was Born A Girl is a good half hour documentary about a UK FTM.

This youtube channel has it along with a few other trans films http://www.youtube.com/user/AllSortsOfStuff101#g/p

By movies, you mean stories, not accounts or people discussing issues?

I found this, and it has quite a few on there. There are typically a lot more movies and documentaries on MTF than FTM, atleast in my searching experience. Here are two sites I found if you hadn't discovered them yet.

Southern Comfort is documentary that is very good, but sad.  It is an important movie to see for FTMs though.  I think most movies about transgendered people seem to show a lot of struggle.

Transgeneration is very interesting.  It follows 4 college students (2 FTMs and 2 MTFs).  I would consider it to be a very positive series and pretty realistic.  You can see it on Netflix via instant play.  It is, I believe, 8 episodes.  I think you would get a lot out of it.

Transgeneration was a documentary done as a series. There are 8 parts, and as Sonopoly said it's on the Netflix instant queue. I actually watched the whole thing a few weeks ago. It's interesting and educating for a non-trans person. My SO recommended that I watch it.
"Love is in fact so unnatural a phenomenon that it can scarcely repeat itself, the soul being unable to become virgin again and not having energy enough to cast itself out again into the ocean of another."

Well then, definitely check out Transgeneration!  You can get a free trial from Netflix and see it instantly on your computer.  It is very good.

Tad.

This site has a 21 videos on transgender children. They vary in what they say and include videos of Kim Pertras. If I could I would try to show no. 10 and11 to my mother, so she could understand what I felt when I was that age. http://weblogofweeds.wordpress.com/2010/09/22/transgender-children/ I especially like these as they are all intelegent and positive.

The second last is about the struggles of an FtM

This isn't a video site. But carries a number of pictures and brief detail ofvery successful adults who have transsisioned. http://ai.eecs.umich.edu/people/conway/TSsuccesses/TSsuccesses.html

This is also not  video site but has a load of information for FtM.

Hope these help.

Sorry Tad. Can only assume that the censors in your country as as bad as here. (It's the first link incidently)

These are the YouTube links. There are so many, embeding every one will swallow up Susans' bandwidth like water. I can't think of a way to temporarily swith embedding off though.

Tnaks for the links. Just watched the ftm parts of the transgender kids. Makes me incredibly jealous. :/ Anyhow, thanks for the links. I'll watch through them all and pass on the good ones to mom.
