He's not my type, being a man and all, but damn he looks good!

A fit, good looking person is a fit good looking person, I guess...doesn't matter about how they got that way!

to my knowledge he won a bunch of medals when he was on the women's pole vaulter team, then transitioned (and never competed again, i believe) and nowadays it feels like he's a talkshow guest for a living. he likes to talk in gender stereotypes (e.g. he stated that he's a good driver because he's a guy with a guy's brain), talks as though all ftms were heterosexual (quote "i was attracted to girls, of course, since i was a guy"), thinks a man needs a penis (while he likes to explain his pump pointing at a showcase male abdomen),  and is altogether quite old school. he is also the only ftm public figure in germany and published his autobiography on the cover of which he is posing naked.

I've gotten that impression as well.  I don't really like Balian Buschbaum, regardless of how he looks.  There is a quote from one interview where he talks about how he felt after starting testosterone, and he says "I felt like an over-bred pitbull."  That isn't going to help the cause.  He makes it sound like we're all steroid junkies, and personally I never had that feeling.

He strikes me as egocentric and uninformed.  I hope he never ends up being some sort of spokesperson for the ftm community.
