Ok, I apologize if I'm breaking some obscure rule about image posting...

But, I wanted to make a transgender pride poster using 3d images. And so now I have a 3d transgender symbol, but no idea what to do with it... Any suggestions?

You already did it you shared it 

I once quilted the same symbol on a quilt at MWMF

and my pic doing such was posted doing it and left on their site for 5 yrs

It seemed that she was explaining to the OP what the rules were so that the she knew the picture being posted did not go against the policy. Not that the image was wrong for here.

It is very well done.

Have you thought of some animation for it.  The obvious, of course would be a swooping camera while the icon rotated.  Coming up with a texture for it would be nice too.  You could turn it into a gif file for your avatar.

I've been playing with blender since it was released.  It looks like you used the 2.5 beta release.  If so, how do you like it?

You meet all kinds here.  Maybe we should start a trans anim group.

BTW: Your image is not in violation of the TOS.  I would not consider it lewd or lacivious.

Precisely. I know there's nothing wrong with the photo. I didnt want her to think she couldn't post any photos because that isn't what the TOS says.

Holly Boswell, in North Carolina, drew it for Wendy Parker, it was copywriter as a lavender triangle and blue symbol with rounded line ends, executed with symmetry throughout, and belongs to Nangeroni Design and Nancy Nangeroni.  It was created for use by the International Foundation for Gender Education who allow its use in non-commercial ways.

I use blender all the time!! I actually run a non-profit film business using blender. I made my profile picture with it. I use blender 2.53, 2.55 is horrible and i just havent gotten around to getting the newest one.

Go "Rock Star" with it... Have T shirts, Posters, pins and all the other paraphernalia that goes along with it made

Then send 10% of the proceeds to me

Well anyway, here's one poster design

It would make a nice desktop, I think desktops are the posters of the future, LOL.

Yeah... This poster is just a quick design i threw together... I only made it cuz I was working on another project at the time, so i used the lighting setup and compositing from that lol

This is my take on the design using Ashley's kindly provided blender file.



I utilized most of the elements of her original design and just added the transparent triangle.  I want to try to make it more like glass or water, but blender doesn't have presets for those types of materials and I always struggle with getting the refraction right.

I'm still fooling with it.

Interesting... Maybe the the stripes should extend back until they dissappear?

I thought about that and tried a couple of poses that way.  The stripes do extend in the other direction quite a ways.  But I wanted to keep a rough flag dimension, so that the elements of the trans logo and the trans flag were combined.

I am open to suggestions.

HI Guys and Gals,

I don't want to sound like a party pooper but I guess I am going to... a bit.

Doesn't the idea of having a whole symbol for trans sort of offend you I know I am trans because of a birth problem, but I identify as a woman which is as far as I am concerned what I am. Why do I need a symbol to show me as something different ?

I wouldn't want to stop anyone from having this symbol if that is what they wanted. But it interests me as to why you would want to be differentiated. Personally I just want to fit in to my proper gender..
