5 years after being "diagnosed" with GID and of being in the NHS trying to get treatment and begin the medical side of my transition, I have finally been put forward for chest surgery!!

Im just so happy and relieved!

With the such slow progress and setbacks, it started to feel like chest and lower surgery was just a distant dream that I would never be able to reach. Ive wanted and needed it so bad for so long Im just so relieved that it is finally approaching!

I was given this great news on the 18th (my appointment with the consultant for the 2nd opinion). He said he will write a letter to the woman I normally see, and she will write to Dr.Ward, this could be between 8-10 weeks apparently. Then I will have an appointment with Dr.Ward, where he will discuss things with me and decide when he will put me on the waiting list for surgery. I dont know how long this part could take, Im hoping not long, but once Im on the waiting list, I am told I will have surgery within 12 weeks.

Finally. :)

Nice one- i'm glad its all coming together for you at last. i ve got my fingers crossed at the minute that the NHS reforms don't play too much havoc with us. Is it Dr Ward from Leicester your seeing?

Yes, it is Dr.Ward I will be seeing (Howd you guess? :P)

Ive managed to see a couple results of his around on different forums. Im not sure if I actually will have my surgery by him, it seems he can refer you onto others if thats best, or something.

How is everything going for you anyway James?
I hope it all goes smoothly for you!

Congrats, that's awesome. I will hopefully be put forward for surgery soon, but Seal and Lorimer are saying two different times, one is saying at 6 months i'll be considered and the other a year.
