Did anyone experience facial acne following their surgery?  I'm finding now that my skin is prone to breakouts where it wasn't before.  I'm currently at my same pre-op estrogen dosage and am wondering if this is just a temporary change my body is going through.   Maybe I should ask my doctor progesterone.

I'm not post op but should be in 2 months :) anyways... Did you take/stop taking spiro? I've often wondered if my acne would come back after stopping it post-op.

I had the same thought.  If you stopped hormones and spironolactone before the surgery, the sudden influx of testosterone might cause a breakout of acne.

I know right after FFS, I skipped my spiro dose for a week (staying on estradiol!) and I had resurgent acne, facial hair, and leg hair.  That's after a week, with estradiol.  Of course, I'm a teenager, so I always have acne regardless of which hormones I'm on.

I distinctly remember my skin getting worse after surgery. I was sure it was because they (obviously) took me off Androcur after surgery. I asked my endochrinologist about it and she said that "most women prone to acne would probably benefit from Androcur too but you just have to live with it".

I was on Androcur too.  It's strange because it really only started to happen.  My doctor told that too much zinc could cause it as well--I take a lot because I still have a tiny area which is still healing.

I had oily skin and some increased acne for a few months after surgery, it's all settled down and now my skin is back to normal. I think a lot of it had to do with the post op hormonal changes and maybe some post anesthesia stuff as well. I experienced some increase in hair falling out during that period as well, but everything seemed to settle down about the same time frame.

Anesthesia I never thought of that!  My Dr. prescribed some stuff called Clindoxyl Gel--so we'll see how that goes.  Two tubes cost 100 bucks!!! :o
