Okay, so posting a picture of me and bf on the passing thread gave us an idea. He really wants to know how well he passes and is having issues with names at the same time, so we came up with a video.

i think he passes really well face-wise....and even when smiling. i like jack as a name....i personally don't think he looks much like marc or sebastian  ....and i think his voice would pass fine if he managed to keep a more even intonation....his voice goes up a lot when he tries to emphasize something or talks faster...so if he managed to control that, he'd be perfectly fine. that said, he looks kinda young/hard to tell, so one would most likely just think he's really young rather than female.

I think his voice would pass if it was more even keeled, although it is hard to tell. He definitely could pass as a young guy, maybe 15 or 16, sorry if that's a downer.

As for names, have you guys thought of Jacob, which is very similar to Jack? I suppose he could be Jacob in formal situations, and go by Jack for short. Just a thought.

In appearance, he completely passes to me. He sounds very female to me, though. I think it's mainly the intonation, but I also get the impression he has a lower range that he's not actively using... which is what happened to me pre-T, because it was a pain to speak deeper on a regular basis. I think Marc or Jack would fit him well.

His face definitely passes, and if he spoke with less inflection his voice would probably pass better too.

Jack, Marc, and John all seem to suit him.

Face passes. Body language is passable as a gay boy. Voice...I'm sorry, it just doesn't pass, and likely won't without hormonal intervention. That's just one of those things you sort of have to accept. I didn't talk much in public between the time I cut my hair and the time my voice started to change.

Even then.  Or you come off even worse, which is like some MLA academic.  Guys would never use the word patriarchy without laughing at the same time.

I have to agree with this. At least, "patriarchy" - acceptable only in defined anthropological context. "Heteronormative" I've heard used by gay guys before, but you're right that if there's some doubt, it's more likely to be read as a lesbian term.

or geek at least here in europe your average person doesn't have clue what heteronormative even means ...but i agree, i myself first heard of it from a lesbian

Like it's been said over and over, a more even-toned voice. Also the hand gestures, they're very rapid and flighty. I've noticed with people watching, women tend to flail like pigeons and men tend to be more ponderous.
Looks like a Sebastian to me, but that's partly because of She's the Man >.> (In case you don't know, Sebastian is the name of the brother that Amanda Bynes is impersonating).

Thanks, I agree with you all completely on the voice and mannerisms....though not so much about the word usage. I don't speak like that but I have run across some males who do and have not thought a thing of it. They're just more politically correct. Maybe it's the weird circles I run in.

I agree with you about beautiful faces...hoping that works for me too ...I think both guys pass really well

First name that came to mind was Jason, Jackson. Really he passes very well so his voice wouldn't be a give away I would just think he's young enough to have not had his voice drop yet. 14/15. He does move a lot and gesture a lot with talking which would tend to be more of a feminine thing in my mind except that I'm friends with a lot of biomales who do the exact same thing.

As for the words patriarchal and heteronormative I don't think that is a gender thing I just think it seems weird for the age he looks (hope that makes sense). Good luck with the name search! It took me a while too.
