Anyone consider themselves a savvant of sorts?

Dawned on me this evening that perhaps my ability to know songs that I've only half heard once before. So I was curious about the rest of us?
I'm also the spouse to the fabulous Mrs. Cynthialee.

My wife tells me I have the idiot part down pat. The savant part may be lacking...

I can remember tiny details about things that aren't important, and random irrelevant facts, but I almost always forget peoples names within a minute or 2.  I'm also horrible at remembering street names and driving directions.

Eh, most songs are the same songs over and over, so it's not that hard.  I sing along with stuff and finish it and people go "wow did you know that" and I just think, no it's the only place that song can go (just like it's the place that song went the other 35,973 times someone wrote it.)

A really good friend of mine in the industry says "Good bands have one good song, great bands have two."  And he's right about that far more often than he is wrong.

I can remember most of what I hear and nothing of what I read...not terribly useful for a grad student studying English.  :D

Some people have said it of me, but I think it's just because I bother listening to people when they speak instead of rehearsing what I'll say next.

I suspect that listening stuff makes you a better writer.

I would agree with that statement.  I also think that it gives you a better understanding of the people you're listening to.  I hate talking to someone who clearly isn't listening.

Yeah, but it kills any sort of academic career.

My main thing is recalling song titles and artists, even after just one time of hearing the song.  And don't get me started on movie lines. -.-;  I can quote back a movie to you even if I've seen it just once (it seems to amaze my mom, who doesn't have that ability xD).

I actually have a mild form of autism, but I wouldn't consider myself a savant.
I am good with calculations but not with math. I usually store information without really being conscious of it a.k.a. I know answers to questions without knowing how I know the answer... But a savant, no - just someone who doesn't have a hard time holding up a conversation about various topics.

Can't see anything about that to worry my sleep about.
