Someone told me that hrt effects the hairline shape and makes it feminine...is this true?

Not drastically and the age of starting HRT may have something to do with it. It can lower a little and round out (like an upside down U) but thats it really.

There was something mentioned about this in a different thread the other day. I have noticed that my hairline has started growing about an extra cm in front of what hair I have always had. An easy way to explain this away would be hair loss being reverted by HRT, but I have never "lost" any hair (and I'm only 21). It's almost like new hair is growing where there never was hair before, and I can tell that it was triggered by hormones because it is much shorter than the rest of my hair, like it is first starting to come in. It is starting slowly - some strands are longer than others, but it is indeed filling in and bringing my hairline forward.

My hairline seems to be slowly repairing.

So does this makes it more femenine? or...still have to plan for the hair transplant?

My hairline actually rounded out... the hair on my hairline on the sides (temple) have filled in with hair. They started as baby hair and i notice them thickening out. I also notice hairs advancing rather than receding... It all starts as baby hairs but notice that it gets plentier and some even become thicker. Ive heard from my friend that it will eventually thicken out...

If yer young, AIS perhaps...

If yous be 40's/50s before you ever start HRT i doubt it sadly?

Transitioning later in life if M-t-F is in my view a much bigger ask.... with more hurdles than doing it when yer young...

However if yous be F-t-M....Tshots quickly get you the hairline you want after a year or two...

I'm a 50-something with male pattern baldness.  Although I'm not totally bald on top, it's very thin with a seriously receded hairline.  HRT for two years has thickened and strengthened the hair that remained, but it's not helped my hairline whatsoever.  I'm seriously considering micro-follicular hair transplants in the near future, as we're fortunate to have one of the better dermatologists in the nation specializing in this procedure in my hometown.

The FFS doctors can cut the scalp and move it to close up bald spots and the hairline may need transplants along the scalp advancement if you get FFS so you have to also figure on your need for FFS as well.. don't get transplants until you get FFS

I've had a few bits of regrowth...Not much but it does seem to be steady

The same here and i'm in my early thirties.  I think it's one of those things that may happen but don't bet on it.  And of course the younger you are the better.

I had a quite similar experience... some new hairs growing at the onset of HRT (and also never "lost" hair/hairline before HRT). Also started HRT young and I'm now 5+ years on HRT and in my early 20s. In the beginning of HRT the new hairs were like baby hairs but a couple of years later they really thickened out.

It's been just over a year for me on HRT and I have seen some baby hairs growing in my hair line.....but that's about it so far

I am in my fortys and geting replacement hair.
So even age may not be an impediment.

We seem to have similar hair and hairlines, and I was wondering what exactly you mean by replacement hair? I was looking at follicular unit grafting...

Just that my hair is regrowing in areas it hasnt in years.

I think the effects of HRT and anti-androgens will essentially be a more intense version of what happens to a man who uses Propecia (which is actually a trade name for Finasteride, which is an anti-androgen, tho in much smaller doses than would be used as part of HRT) and/or Regaine (minoxidil). These treatments will act on any remaining hairs on the head, no matter how small they may be to start with. The follicles will enlarge, allowing thicker, longer hairs. The effect is to make it look as though hair is growing where there wasn't any before, but that's not actually the case. On areas of the scalp that are totally bald and hairless (ie. where the scalp is shiny) those drugs don't have any effect and you have to have transplant surgery.

So if you're seeing an advancing hairline, it's just hairs that were very small and barely visible becoming bigger and easier to see. But who cares, really? You're still getting thicker, girlier hair! 🙂

Gwen, this is exactly what I'm looking at doing to restore my hairline.  My local dermatologist will graft approximately 3000 to 3500 follicular units in a single day, working with two or three assistants.   Unfortunately, the cost will be the largest issue, approximately $12K to $15K, or $3 to $5 per follicular unit.   Existing hair density and scalp laxity (slack) also determine how long it requires, and what type of results to expect.   Good luck to you!!

As far as me being able to notice it, not really alot. However, my hair is thicker and much healthier. Only 11 months on HRT. I guess its best to say like in other parts of ur body, HRT affects everyone differently.
