My wife and I were at Office Max. A sales guy comes up from behind us and asks, "Can I help you ladies?"

If you read my post in the "introductions" section, you know that I'm not actually trying to transition right now. I do have very long hair that I usually wear pulled back. I had put my hair in a sock bun the night before, so I had some great "sock-bun" curls pulled back into a ponytail.
The sales guy apologized, but I secretly took it as a compliment.    I guess my hair looked pretty

I've had people go "sir" at me before from behind, then apologize, so I can relate to your "secretly-take-it-as-a-compliment" attitude.

  Congratulations...  I 've had a few times out with my SO and get the " Hello Ladies".  Usually at restaurants.  The SO usually doesn't go along and accept it .  She will give me away even though I wasn't trying to pass.   I do have long hair pass my shoulders.

Congrats...i personally love it when they say ma'am.

This is getting weird...
A guy working the drive-through at Panera's called me "Ma'am" when I pulled up to the window. I have a very deep voice, so that wouldn't have been the reason.
I was wearing my Winter coat, so I don't even think he could see my long pony in the back. And I really don't think it was my face.

Funny thing....he was wearing a about an 6 inch ponytail himself 

But now I'm curious why......

Maybe you looked like a girl on their drive-thru cam IDK... But other than stating that you have long hair we have nothing to go by because we have no idea what you look like

  I know just how you feel. The first time I was Ma'am d, you couldn't slap the grin off my face. My wife thought it was sooo funny.

I had it happen to me before I even realized about GID or anything. My wife used to laugh about it and I'd be so upset about it. I look back on that now and see it as trying to cover things up.

Later on in transition after I was full time, my ex and I would go out and they'd say "ladies" and my ex would grumble lol

Actually, I envy you!  Hey, I've NEVER been called, "Ma'am."  Frankly, I don't know that I ever will be.  Well, I'll just have to deal with it.

I know the great feeling.
Whenever I am in the men's room and a man walks in after me, hesitates, and says "I thought this was the men's room" then they walk back out and see the sign, and realize I was male, and they just called me a woman, they usually do not come back in, in the fear that I am offended.

When I am in the ladie's room, woman will sometimes, but not usually, walk right in as if I am supposed to be there.


By the way, I am not a creeper, I am a janitor at a grocery store... LOL
