Last winter, Southern Oregon University senior Cole Linhart was almost beaten up in a bathroom at a Medford bar because he is transgender, he said.

[...]

Linhart and representatives from SOU's Queer Resource Center, the Lotus Rising Project and Jefferson Center hope that eventually that kind of bullying won't happen in Southern Oregon anymore.

To that end, they're holding a meeting Sunday at the university to address bullying because of sexual identity.

The free community meeting will be held at 4 p.m. in the Hannon Library's Meese Room.

Five panelists will discuss their experiences with bullying and will answer questions from audience members.
