Other than wearing riser shoes? =P I was wondering if there was some sort of..Idk..chemical or something that can make you taller (without any side effects!!)? I have been very self concious about my height lately (a 5'4 female, hoping to transition within the next two years). If not now, do you think it will be discovered in the future? What about near future?? Share your opinions please

I wish ftms would stop worrying about their height. Your height will not hinder your passing once you are on T. Men can be short just as women can be tall. I was just hanging out with a cismale friend today who's around my height and I'm 5'0". Nobody doubts that he is a man. I always feel bad about my height and I'd love to be 5'4", which is the height of a lot of famous actors and musicians and is more common than it seems like. Everyone always wants what they don't have, and for something like height, unfortunately you can't change that. You might grow less than an inch on T, that seems to be documented, but that's such a small difference it's pretty much negligible. You just have to take the good with the bad. If you let height discourage you from anything, you'll never get stuff done.

If your bones are fused then you aren't going to get much taller, if at all. The only way to make your bones longer would be leg lengthening surgery. Cartilage, muscle, and connective tissue can grow on T. That's why people see changes in their hands, feet, jaw line. The only people I've heard of getting a dramatic height increase is if they started T young. We are about the same height I am also very self conscious about it. I think methods to make you taller may improve in the future, but not in the next couple years.

I'm not even as tall as you are. Sometimes I think ftm's and height are like bio dudes and their dick sizes. Everyone always wants more  :P Honestly, like phoenixflorida said, there ARE short guys. You're not going to change your height so you might as well get comfortable with the fact that you are going to be a short guy ... and there are plenty of them out there.

Take up salsa dancing  :P
The vast majority of bio guys I meet there are shorter than me (5'7).
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love

There's a surgery typically reserved for little people (that's the right phrasing, I think?) who are almost an average or "normal" height. Pretty much requires both femurs to be broken and expanded every now and then. You can't walk at all during this and won't be able to walk for awhile after, either but in the end you'll be taller!

Correction: they break the tibia and fibula bones in the legs. It's also used for people with legs that are dramatically different in length (ex: one leg is 28 inches long and the other is 31 inches long).

yea there isnt really anything you can do about height.  Just be grateful for the inches you have and be glad you arent shorter then you are.

I can see that

Yup, what they said. Sometimes boots and high-top shoes can help you with an extra inch or two without looking weird but I see bio-guys who are about 5' tall so don't stress man.

Honestly, id give anything to be your height.
You're in the average range of an adult male.
You're lucky.

This, im about 4'11" and I believe anyone taller than 5'2" has it made. Id give anything to be 5'3".
There's no one shorter(who's not legally a midget), im not even close to the male range. Im even short for a female.

The only thing I've heart of that'll maybe give you an inch, is yoga and stretching.

Daughter is 4'8", midget is 4' 9". That leaves some room for someone to fit in.

I'm 5'1" and proud ;) Chicks dig it because it makes me 'adorable'. My girlfriend is a head taller than me (She's MTF) so it makes us a cute, quirky couple.

I used to be very caught up with my height. It used to bother me alot, but it's just something you have to come to terms with.

I've always been bothered by my height. Now with T I'm bothered both by my height and my dick size  >:-)
But, since my bones are completely fused (since I was 11...) I won't grow any more.
Something I've found to be useful is dressing all in one color. Specially black or dark gray. I don't know why but dark monocrhome makes me feel taller.

Don't worry about your height mate.  All the men in my family are short, and I'm no exception (5'3").  And there's loads of short guys out there, no less manly than the tall ones.

As Mr Hyde said above,  dressing in a certain way can make you appear taller - I tend to go for darker, straight leg jeans with a black v-neck, slim jumper, and a t-shirt.  If I wear baggy jeans I just look like a square!

Have you ever tried Alexander Technique? It helps improve your posture and can actually make you appear a few inches taller! I used to have it when I had muscle problems as a music student, and it worked wonders.

Oh yeah, and I should mention that at my family reunion last summer, the only person there who was over 6 feet tall was a guy who had married into the family. We are short people, men included. :p
