How this American nurse found herself in the company of Filipinos is one story after another of misery and tragedy.

It started with a young transsexual woman who enrolled in nursing school in New Jersey. It was the '80s and the school did not know how to deal with homosexuals on campus, more so with a post-operative transsexual. The school (now defunct) gave Monica a difficult time, hoping it would make her go away and transfer to another college. They gave her case studies to do and after she's submitted them, would tear her paper to pieces.
