Umm, didn't know if this was the place to put a thread like this, but since it is an art of sorts (at least what I do,) I figured hey why the hell not.

Soo, do any of you all out there collect dolls of any sort?  I've been a big fan of the Asian Ball Joint Doll hobby for almost 4.5 years now, and I have a few of my own, to the point of painting faces and making clothing for them (and naming them, they DO talk to me, I swear!)  I just wanna see if there are any other collectors on here besides myself, and maybe swap photos of them, or techniques, etc etc.

I am not really a doll collector. I have some dolls that are bald with the hair embossed. The eyes flutter and the lids go up and down. They are babies. I prefer the larger the better. Not too old. The 60's are good because earlier the eyes are creepy.

When I was a little girl I had some. They belonged to my sisters and I. When were moving I took them to the neighbors,I was visiting before we left. Then I just forgot them there. I am always reminded of this by mom and sisters often. I was quite young.

So now I when I come across one that is reasonably priced and good condition I will buy it. My Mom always knits them a baby outfit for me.

I don't suppose they are worth anything aside from a sentimental viewpoint. I do love them just the same. Yet not as much as you love yours. I have not named mine. :)

Hugs,
Patty

I've seen some like that, I went to IDEX back in 08', that's like one of the big premier doll and bear shows in the US.  Some of the baby ones are pretty, but some of them scare the bejeezuz out of me.  There were some silicon ones that I thought were gonna come alive and eat me @_@;

Mine are all made out of resin, and they vary in sizes.  I think my smallest, Clover, is 28cm, and my biggest, Blizzard, is 65+ cm.  Blizzard is a limited edition as well, one of 100, with a robot/android esque body.  I also have Efala, who is the same size, which is an elf, Nimbus, who is 45cm, and another one who is 60cm, but I haven't found an appropriate name for her yet.  Usually they get names based off of my personality and subconscious, but some take longer than others to figure out.

Hi Key
I have two Asian Ball Jointed Dolls. It's pretty unusual to come across someone else who's into them, especially here in the UK.
I have a 45cm boy and his 42cm girlfriend. I've got my eye on a 58cm Asleep Eidolon at the moment...

I was until they screwed me over.  Hehe, seniority on that site means nothing after the old owner sold it to one of the mods.  It was high time I left anyway, they had kicked one of my good friends on account of 'copying a company's doll and claiming it as her own,' which was a line of bull because the girl would never copy something in her life and try to sell it, not with all the trouble she's had trying to get her sculpts sold in the first place.

I have two.

One is a Barbie doll that I originally got as a prop for my lecture on plastics in the History of Technology class I taught.  Some student bought her a frizzy hair wig/bandanna deal, and a few years later another student made her a custom tie-dye outfit, after which my wife made a little sign for her to hold that says "I need a miracle" so she's my little hippie/Grateful Dead Barbie.  She sits on my desk where she has always resided.

The other one is a Barbie doll that a bunch of my friends got me as a gift for finishing my PhD.  That one is an original model, still in the unopened box, autographed by Jack Ryan.* With all the certificates of authenticity.  Needless to say, that one is in a safe-deposit box.

Oh wow.  The closest thing I had to something worth that was my Volks Luna Doll.  Volks is a Japanese doll company that makes ball joint dolls, and they tend to collaborate with very well-known fashion companies over there to produce limited dolls.  I think I paid 1400 USD to get a hold of her, and I loved her to death.  Sadly, I had to sell her this past christmas to pay for christmas gifts.  I don't know if i'll ever get another one, since her sculpt was decided to be a one of a kind, and they wouldn't do a resculpt of her ever.  (sometimes volks will re-sculpt or re-cast the doll, usually in a different resin color, and a different name and outfit.)

Oh cool! I hardly ever stumble upon bjd fans outside bjd communities hehe.

I collect and have a few of them, got nine now, including floating heads. Not sure how I managed, I guess mostly hybrids and buying second hand. My first doll however was a limited edition Leekeworld Cliffe. I recently sold the body though, in favor of a female one. Heh, most of my dolls are trans, go figure. Probably going to sell some now though, in favor of having money for upcoming bills :/ But I've got... a leeke cliffe, min and kyou, crobidoll lance, two luts event heads, an elfdoll vivien, dollzone megi, and an iplehouse jerome. I used to be super into doing faceups as well, and did a lot of them for money to buy more dolls lol, but kind of dropped out due to time constraints with my job. Still fun though :)

I've spent a lot of time around people with BJD's and I wish I could afford a few. More or less my doll collection consists of .jpg's I use as my "wish list".

I've got 4 BJDs. Luts Yder, Puki Chuchu, Soom Glati Limited, and a Bluefairy Tommy. I've kind of fallen out of the community though...But I still love them all.
I need to go back to meetups...

I have two bjds but I feel bad I haven't played with them in years and I've been out of the community even longer. They just kind of sit in my closet now. Every now and then i think about selling them but honestly they mean way too much too me.

I would collect dolls if I wasn't so scared of them. My mother collects geisha dolls though. When we lived in Japan she bought a bunch and they're really nice. The detail in the clothing and accessories are really amazing.
