Jo Clifford, 60, was given an arts handout from public funds to write "poetic fiction that explores the issues of transgender in the Old and New Testaments".
It comes after Jo - who used to be a bloke called John - caused outrage with her play Jesus Queen of Heaven which centred around a transgender female Christ returning to Earth.
