New Mardi Gras (NMG) is consulting with the nation's peak intersex organisation over formal inclusion of intersex people within its constitution.

The move comes amid "confusion" around the "inconsistent inclusion" of intersex in the GLBTQ acronym associated with Mardi Gras season events – with some explicitly including the 'I' for intersex, while others do not.

For the past ten months, Organisation Intersex International (OII) has been involved closely with NMG board member David Wilson to broaden NMG's core area of focus to include intersex.
