Finally got my binder, just a few questions

Like it says, finally got the damn thing after almost a month of waiting.
I got the 997 in large. Initially I was a little worried because it didn't do too terribly much, but I folded the bottom half over the top and it manages pretty well. I can wear a hoodie now and be boobless, which is huge for me (I'm  40 D or something, I can't remember the last time I wore an actual bra).

I'm just wondering what any of you bigger chested guys do or suggest to maximize it? Is there another binder that's better for a signifigantly larger chest?

Also, how does it fair in hotter weather? I wore mine for about 6 hours after I got it and even with a high fever, it never got uncomfortable.

Sorry for all the questions that you've all probably read a million times.

My hips are wide so I leave it down to allow for binding of both my hips and chest. That, and when I double up it's not long enough to cover my whole chest. I've been okay in hot weather wearing my binder. It could be that I'm just used to it now (it's been maybe 6 years since I started binding).

Man, I guess I lucked out in the hips department, I've never really had prominent hips at all. My biggest problem is my gut, it didn't stay down over my paunch at all. Have you ever tried a sports bra in combination with it? I was thinking about trying that tomorrow when my friend gets out of work.

I just got 3 of the double fronts and they do nothing for me unless I fold the bottom over the top too. My tri-top had its issues but I think when I can afford it I'm just gonna get more tri-tops. Even folding it over I still have bounce issues plus for some reason I sweat a ridiculous amount with the double front but where I live it's already getting to be 80 degrees during the day so that could be the problem.

I've got a a bit of a gut, too and it stays below my muffin top. I tried a sports bra with it but it didn't work too well. The sports bra was a size or two too small and hurt my shoulders. I also tried wearing it with a tri-top and pretty much freaked out. Couldn't breathe.

Damn Andrew, it's already that hot? That's insane. I'd lose my mind so fast.
I might be getting a tri-top soon, I'm even more motivated to if you said it works better than the doublefront. I've got the bounce issue too, I didn't even realize till I went out today and that pissed me off a bit. .

I've been lucky so far, the only time I had an "oh crap I can't breathe" moment was a few months ago when I was being a complete retard, decided to use one of those wide belts and strap it way too tight around my chest.

I wear a 997, and I like it although I have nothing to compare to since I've never tried anything else. I'm about a 44DD and I wear it tucked into my pants and not folded up like some of you do. It sometimes rolls up, but my pants seem to hold it down to some extent where it won't roll up past that. I can pass with it for the most part, as long as I don't speak (that's a different story).

Also, you might want to edit your language a bit before a mod sees it.

I have the 997 too but LAYERS is the key bro.
I tried the tri-top and had the same reaction about freaking out haha, I felt like I couldn't breath so I ditched it.
I fold my 997 and then I wear a muscle shirt , tight white t-shirts and then whatever shirt I wear for the day. Sometimes I double up both of those too, depending on the dysmphoria of that day...
Yes, I get hot, yes it sucks, but I'd rather be hot than have a chest.

Look for thicker knit shirts too. I wear a lot of polos, button ups, and hoodies during the winter... all those help hide your chest when a regular cotton t-shirt doesn't do as well.

Hope this helps! Congrats on the new binder bro :D

N.Chaos

Mmhm, I'm learning faster and faster that button ups are my new best friends. I'd rather be hot than have a chest too, I'm just worried about passing out/vomiting/getting sick.
Layering, eh? I'll need to hit up the thrift store soon and reinvest in a new wardrobe, most of my stuff isn't large enough, but it's good to know. And hoodies, well...you can never have too many of them so I don't mind picking up new ones. In your opinion are zip-ups or pullovers better generally?

gilligan, that's pretty impressive. What should I be editing?

yeah all I wear is button ups lol.

Zip-up hoodies for sure. You just want to take the distraction away from your chest so anything that runs along the middle (buttons, zippers) is best.

Also! look for patterned shirts over plain color shirts too, distraction is key here. If you have a shirt thats just plain solid color the only thing people have to look at is your chest. but with elaborate patterns it natural distracts the eye.

oh and STAY AWAY from horizontal stripes! get vertical striped shirts if you go with stripes... it'll help with the illusion that your chest is flatter.

These are just things I've learned from being a professional photographer...

Good luck with your new wardrobe man :)

N.Chaos

Oh god no, never horizontals. As pudgy as I am that'd just exacerbate the shortround aspect, lol.

Okay, zip ups strictly, good to know. Is plaid okay? I've always had a borderline obsession with it, so that's what I'm probably going to gravitate towards at the Salval. Oh yeah, stupid question that's probably been addressed before: does it matter which side the buttons are on? I've never paid much attention, when it comes to button ups, what section I was getting them from (and, admittedly, because 70% of my shopping is done at thrift stores and NO ONE ORGANIZES THEM WORTH CRAP) so I'm worried that might be giving me away?

The buttons should be on the right side of the shirt as you wear it, the holes on the left.

Morning trivia!! Does everyone know why?

(Right handed guy dressing himself, puts buttons through holes with right hand. Historically, women had people to dress them?!? (what is up with that??!) So, the buttons being on the left side of the shirt would put the buttons in the right hand of the maid or whoever was doing the buttoning. Fascinating!  :-\)

(Sidenote: I actually just paid a seamstress to switch the buttoning side of this awesome pea coat I have...was worth it to recycle an old coat!)

You had said something about having an oh s**t moment without censoring the s**t. Just a thought. I know some mods are pickier than others, if they see it they might edit it for you, but for future reference, it's not supposed to be used here. I know I'm being an a**hole, but rules are rules.

Huh, I never knew that, I never even expected there'd be a reason for it! Very, very good to know though, thanks a million man.

Gilligan, thanks for letting me know, I swear constantly and I've never come up against it in the past so I wasn't even aware of it, honestly.
Will fix it.

Yep. Historically, European women needed to be dressed by someone else, because women's fashions were tight and restrictive and in many cases near-impossible to put on without help. It wasn't just the upper class women with personal maids - the maids themselves, and others who interacted regularly with the upper classes or had to meet their standards of appearance, also wore structured garments (corsets or bodices) and various heavy and awkward things (petticoats, hoops) and had to get the help of mothers, sisters, daughters, or coworkers to get dressed.

Of course, for a long time, upper-class men were also dressed by others. But it wasn't a requirement of the clothing.
