Self Hypnosis A Good Tool For Transitioners

To some just the mention of self hypnosis conjures up images of quackery, or fortune telling and party gags. The truth is, you don't even need to believe in its effectiveness to benefit from it. In fact, Whether you believe in it or not, everyone uses this type of mind control to preform difficult tasks. Every time the subconscious mind communicates with the conscience, this is to a small degree "self hypnosis". When you tell yourself "I can do this" or " I love my job" and even, "I hate my job" this is self hypnosis in its simplest form. Athletes do this before a game, musicians do it before a performance. We do it all day long, we just don't refer to it as self hypnosis.  .

    You may have heard people claim that they got bigger boobs by hypnosis or cured their cancer through the use of meditation. I won't suggest either is technically correct. But, I do know that it is possible to slow ones heat rate via self hypnosis, it is also possible to direct blood flow to different parts of the body using hypnosis. So one could reason , with the right meditation and positive thinking many thing are possible.

   The trick is to know how to communicate with your subconscious mind, and do it in an effective and lasting manor. Have you ever had a bad dream, that has ruined your whole day? Have you ever had a good one that has carried over to the next day and made you feel good? A person has good dreams and bad ones all night long, but only some of them effect us. The ones that effect us are usually the ones that happen just before we wake up, or just before we fall asleep. This is because your subconscious and your conscience mind are communicating with each other. When we fall asleep the conscience mind turns off or goes into a resting period and lets the subconscious mind take over. Just before the conscience mind turns off and the subconscious takes over there is a short period of time when they are both alert and functioning together. Sometimes this is when inventors have come up with new  great ideas or a person might remember things forgotten . The things we think about during that time will in fact set the mood for the coming day.

   There are some groups of people and professionals that try to utilize this opportunity to tap into the subconscious and encourage changes in ones habits. It can be very effective. They do this by having a person listen to special recording throughout the night, that may not have any noticeable language but it is there and can be picked up by the subconscious.

   You can spend allot of money buying recording from hypnotherapists or just people claiming to be hypnotists, but you don't need to listen to Mistress Mortisha talk in seductive voice to get the benefit of hypnosis. You can do it yourself , it is very easy. Once you learn how and get comfortable doing it you can do it anywhere at anytime.

   OK , so here is the trick. You have to get both the subconscious and the conscience working together, and not just at some random time. You need to be able to make this happen when you want it to. Getting the subconscious to become active is the easy part. We do this every time we daydream. Everybody daydreams , right?  The tricky part is getting your conscience mind to slow down and let the subconscious take over, and I say "slow down"  because we don't want it to shut down completely, if we do we will simply fall asleep(and we don't want that). This is accomplished by meditation and relaxation.

   I will tell you what I do. Although everyone is different and you have to find the right format that you feel most comfortable with. To give you an example, my wife is afraid of water so she does not find it comforting at all. I on the other hand, love water and find it very comforting. So in my sessions I visualize water and she does not.

   At first you will need to find a place very private and very comfortable and mostly quiet. After awhile, when you get better at it, it will not be so necessary.  This is what I did at first and what I recommend.


  We will start on the bed in your bedroom. The door should be closed to insure privacy. You have to be comfortable. Make sure you are wearing something comfortable. This does not mean you have to get your best negligee on, but if that is what is comfortable, good for you. Make sure you will be warm. Get several pillows to prop yourself up on. You don't want to be laying down. You will fall asleep if you do this and you don't want that. You should be sitting in a slightly reclining position, but remember everybody is different so do what is comfortable. Your legs out in front of you, not crossed or touching each other. Your arm at your sides and hands resting on the bed beside you. You want to eliminate as much detraction that you might notice as much as possible.

   The first time this is going to feel like you have the "cart before the horse", but now you have to go through the sequences of events in your mind before you start the season. What method of relaxation you will be using, what breathing technique you will be using, what gifts or suggestions you will be giving yourself. As far as the gifts or suggestion , I like to refer to them as "gifts", don't try to give too much at once. You can give yourself more than one; but I find it hard to give more then three. We will get to that later.

   So now you are sitting, slightly reclining on your bed, very comfortable. You are  ready to begin.

   With your eyes open, keeping your head and the rest of your body still, look up with your eyes as far as you can at the ceiling. At the same time take in a big breath through your nostrils. Hold it just for a second. Now slowly relax your eyes, let them close and come to their resting place; at the same time you let your breath out, through your mouth. Now to do this there doesn't have to be any outward movement of the face muscles. Simply use your tongue diverting the air from one direction to another.  Now start your breathing. Slow and deep, but not so deep that it become distracting. Remember we are trying to become very relaxed. As you take every breath in through your nostril, imagine the air that you are breathing is clean and fresh. Now imagine that as you breath out through your mouth, you're expelling all the stress and unwanted feelings that are trapped inside you. Take a moment to work on your breathing. Breath in the cool fresh air( through your nostrils) and breath out (through your mouth) all the warm bad air. Slowly feel yourself relax. Now at this time you may begin to notice things like noises that you were not aware of before. It is OK to have some minor noises but you need to tell yourself this is OK. Throughout the session you may hear some things and you can acknowledge them but you do not need to react to them."(unless they are important, ie baby crying, police at your door). Otherwise you need not be concerned about anything except relaxing and breathing. You will keep breathing this way though out the whole session.

   Remember to keep breathing slow , deep and even. Now your are going to start at the top of your head, the crown of your head, picture it and feel it as it relaxes. Now keeping the crown of your head fully relaxed move your attention to your forehead and brow. Picture it and feel it relax. Now move your attention to the your face in particularly around your eyes, feel them relax. Remember to keep a steady breathing technique. Now more your attention to your face and around your mouth, picture it and feel it relax. Now move to your neck and throat, feel them become very relaxed, very, very relaxed. Now your whole head is relaxed you feel it become heavy and sink just slightly into the pillow behind you. Feel your brow, your mouth, your neck become more and more relaxed with every breath you let out of or mouth. Stress is leaving your body . Now picture your shoulders,  feel them relax. Next, focus on the  upper part of your arms, feel them relax, then your forearms let them simply relax.  Move onto your hands, the wrist, the palms and each one of your fingers. Feel them become very relaxed. Now you can feel your hands and arms becomes so relaxed they feel very heavy. So heavy, in fact, they feel as if you could not pick them up off  the bed if you tried.  You are not going to try, you're are going to continue relaxing and breathing. Now onto your chest , your breathing is becoming more shallow; you are becoming very relaxed. You are not asleep; you are very aware of yourself and you  feel very peaceful. Continue relaxing every portion of your body until you work your way all the way down to your toes. By then you will be completely relaxed, very, very relaxed. You will feel yourself sink slightly into the bed below you.

   Now your are fully relaxed, and this is very important, so don't skip steps or rush it. At this point your conscience mind has given over control over  to your subconscious. They are both working together , both aware of each other.

    I want you to imagine your are standing at a door. Imagine what the door looks like , what is around the door. You can make it any color that you want , you can make it look anyway that you like. It is your door to your special room. Imagine what you are wearing. You can be wearing anything that you want to. Although I recommend something easy to slip out of (you will understand later). When you feel you are ready, open the door and step inside. You are standing at the top of a staircase. Shut the door behind you. You are completely alone. This is your room just for you. No one comes here except you. Look around, picture the walls, picture the railing leading down the stairs, or even if there is a railing. It is your room so you can image it any way you choose. Notice that the stairs lead down into a pool. Imagine the pool. Imagine how relaxing it will be to be in the water. Notice there are ten steps on the staircase, the fifth step enters the pool. When you are ready you begin,walking down the steps,look at each step, as you place your foot on it. Starting with ten, count each step as you take it, all the      while continuing your breathing and relaxation.... One, two, three, four. Pause for a moment to disrobe if you like or not, it is completely up to you. You make the rules. Once you are ready, continue on your way down. When you step down to step five, you feel your foot touch the warm water. It feels very nice and you look forward to being in it completely . Step six, the water is up to your calves, now seven and eight and nine and then on step ten, the last step, you are fully in the water now. It feels so nice and warm . It's not too deep but deep enough that you can let yourself just float around. You move into the center of the pool. You are floating there, slightly spinning admiring your surroundings, relaxed and content. 

    Take a moment to just relax and enjoy the beautiful place your are in and the warmth of the water. Notice at the end of the pool under the water there is what looks to be a box. You go over to see what it is. It is a box and it is for you. You make your way down under the water and pick the box up and bring it to the surface. You bring it to the edge of the pool. There is a latch on top, you unlatch it and open it. Look inside. It is a gift. A gift meant for just you. The gift is "a feminine walk" (you don't want to be too vague here or too complicated. Don't give your self too much at one time) you can give yourself more than one gift but I find it hard to give more then three, and if you give yourself more than one you will put them in separate boxes and retrieve then separately.  Today is just going to be "a feminine walk" when you open the box you are happy and excited to have been given this gift. Look at it and think about what it is and what it means to you. You will tell yourself about it, and try to be specific. Such as, "When I walk from my car to the office I will be acutely aware of the way I am walking and I will walk with a wiggle and very feminine."  or "As I walk from my first period class to my second I will walk in a very feminine way." You can add,"When I walk around my apartment I will walk in a very feminine way even though no one is watching."

    Now you have your gift or gifts. They are yours to keep, forever. Even though you may not wish to leave , you must, but take solace in that you will be back again soon; and as often as you like. Now you have the gift in the box placed under one arm and you start your assent back up the stairs. You place your foot on step ten then slowly step nine, you feel yourself lifting out of the water (but you are not cold) then step eight , seven, six, five(you feel yourself becoming more aware of your surroundings) then four. Pause and put your robe or garment on , step three becoming more awake, two almost completely awake now, and step one. Open the door at the top of the stairs and you are completely awake now.

    You feel refreshed, you feel good, you feel grateful and excited to try out your new gift. You feel very positive about your experience, and look forward to trying it again.

    The first couple times, admittedly, it is a little funny. After awhile, it becomes very comfortable. You can change it around to fit your particular needs or desires, just don't get too complected. The most important thing to remember is relax.

   You also must have realist goals. You can't give yourself a gift of being a perfect lady the next time you walk out the door. Nothing happens overnight and you can't give up too soon. If you give yourself a gift of a feminine walk and you end up twisting your ankle. Then you say to your self "that stuff doesn't work at all, I'll never get the hang of this" well your your conscience mind has just told the subconscious mind to "get lost " so then hypnosis will definitely not work.


    There is allot of information on the web but mostly they want to sell you books, cds and dvds. You don't really need that. If you are interested in self hypnosis . I would encourage you to find some of the information on your own. I may have missed a step or two or rushed through somethings and I would not want you to try this and not have work for you. This is just something to give you an idea of how it works.

    Anyways it works for some and may not for others. The worst that can happen is that you get a nice nap out of the deal. (just kidding, DON"T FALL ASLEEP)

I have done the same thing, except I use an elevator.  As it goes down each floor is the count down, from 10 to 1.  At 1, the elevator doors open unto your secret room.  But I have done that same thing.

I use the process to help get past problems, emotional and mental.  I don't use it to release any feminine feelings.  Those exist all ready.

But give it a try.  As my Granny used to say.  "It couldn't hert"
