Liberal vs Conservative - Do I have this right?

Mike Huckabee recently criticized Natalie Portman for having a child out of wedlock.  To me it's a MYOB thing but Huckabee just couldn't keep his big mouth shut.  But it seems we get that a lot from conservatives.

Then it hit me, conservatives focus a lot on how others live their life and they have no problem judging, criticizing or complaining about that.  It's almost like they feel an obligation to stick their nose in other people's business and offer unsolicited advice.  But, unless I'm missing something, it seems liberals say, "Go live your life in whatever way makes you happy, just as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else."

Have I got that right?  What's your perspective?
When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

It's even worse when you think that the Huck is stealing from Dan Quayle.

And all you have to do is read the bacon thread to find out how liberals want to determine your lunch.  Both sides are lying pricks.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

I know I used a politician as an example and I really wanted to stay away from a Democrat vs Republican thing.  Politicians have an agenda that includes greed, power and fame.  I was thinking outside the political arena, so my bad for using Huckabee.

But I guess when you look at conservatives, the vast majority are closely tied to their political and religious beliefs and inside those two realms the order of the day is fix the world, according to "me".  So maybe conservatives can't be separated from politics and/or religion.

Well neither can, liberal and conservative are both political terms.

My opinion on conservatives is that they believe that they are saving people from themselves when they judge others --- trying to get them to fall into the norms of society b/c then everyone would do well.  If everyone conformed to the norms of society then there would be no crime, no poverty etc.  But I personally think it's folks afraid of change and who don't know how to handle differences  - at least that is what I tell myself is the reason my parents don't accept me.

Hey! I'm a flaming liberal and I want nothing to do with your lunch.

The proselytizing-vegan types may well be liberals too, but there's nothing about liberalism that requires being a proselytizing vegan; it's a separate ideology. They're a pretty small minority. Most of us, to the extent that we care about your food at all, just want it to be safe, sufficient to meet your needs, and of the quality you expect when you buy it.
