Yup. It sure does. Just got my 2nd treatment today, and it hurt even worse than the first one. Which surprised me because it seemed the first treatment thinned out my facial hair quite a bit. I'm not a masochist or anything, but this kind of torture is the good kind of torture.

Here are some pics ... for no reason really. Perhaps someone can find them amusing. Or educational. The red dots are the remaining hair follicles.  You can see that I have the largest concentration around my chin area. Yes it's sore like a sunburn, the redness should go away after a couple of days.

for comparison here is me about 10 hours after my first treatment, you can see how much my hair has thinned from just one treatment.

I'm about to undergo similiar torture haha, Samantha I'm excited :D lol

I really hope it thins out my facial hair first treatment too :D  The redness doesn't look too bad, couple of days not bad :)

I'm excited for you Safiyah! It's way worth it!

For comparison, I'm going to upload a picture of my first laser treatment, so you can see how much just my first treatment has thinned out my facial hair.

Yes, yes it does. I found that it wasn't as bad the second or third time except for the upper lip. During the first treatment my eyes watered so bad they filled up those little goggles they have you wear.

Someone else on this board mentioned using ice packs right after treatment and it works. Instead of a couple of days it just one day for me.

Your face looks pretty good, mine is more red than that after treatment.

Yay, progress!

Thanks Hannah. This isn't directly after treatment. This is about 6 or 7 hours after the brutal attack on my face. The overall redness has gone away, but the area around the follicles are still quite red.

Right now I have a light mustache and goatee, so it's not as bad. Still not looking forward to the pain though :'(

It was only the first time for me.

It hurts but it's totally worth it. It's over quickly and the awful beard is going away.

If you think laser hurts - try electrolysis.  OUCH!!!!
Having you blanket in the wash is like finding your psychiatrist is gone for the weekend!         Linus "Peanuts"

It is over quickly, only about 5 minutes. Unless your talking about the zaps. Because you get done with one painful zap, and then there's another... and then another.. AND ANOTHER... AND ANOTHER!!!!

It may be done pretty quickly, but it feels like an eternity when it's happening. But it is soooooooooo worth it.

Sorry to barge in, but I just wanted to say that the pictures are really interesting.  I didn't realize that one laser treatment thinned out the hair so much.
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love

Looks very painful.

Did they ice you?

Put on hydrocortisone?

My skin look a little inflamed which is  gone in an hour. What laser power level did they use. Have they ever done a 'male' face before?

I'm very nervous, I have nothing like that. Ouch

Worried

I just had my third treatment 3 weeks ago. It feels like getting slapped in the face. What bothers me more than the pain is when the laser head doesn't fire after the recharge indicator goes off.... always scares me, lol. I haven't started though so my facial hair didn't thin nearly as fast as yours.... damn testosterone. lol

I found cold wet wash cloths on your face really suck the heat out after the treatment. Aloe Vera gel helps took a few hours later.  Welcome to the Fried Follicle Club! :icon_flamed:

Samantha, you really got a GREAT ;D reduction from your first laser treatment.  The stubborn hairs that remained for the second treatment are probably rooted deeper or they are thicker, and that's why the second treatment felt like it hurt more.  If you can, ask what type of laser they are using, what spot size, and what energy level in joules.   That will tell everything you need to know about your treatment.

I'm still dealing with electrolysis because my beard is mostly red, blonde, and gray. :(

Hum, I guess the effects really vary based on how thick the hair is.  Contrary to your results, my redness goes away within an hour of my treatments and I don't have any lingering red spots.  I have even had lunchtime sessions and nobody at work was the wiser after I got back.  Electrolysis on the other hand, I need to do on a Friday after work because my face looks like it got attacked by a tentacle monster for the rest of the day.  Then it looks like mild-moderate acne for 2-3 more days.

Anyway, it's amazing that you got such great results from just one session.  Hopefully you'll only need a few more :)

Well I woke up this morning, and the redness around the follicles is almost completely gone. They put aloe on my face after the treatment. The initial redness that I had went away quickly, but the redness around the follicles took about a day. The thicker spots are still a little red. But I'm recovering 10x faster than I did with my first treatment.

The laser appears to be about 1 inch in diameter, I told them to use the highest setting (of 3 settings that they tested on me), and as for the power, I have no idea.

I didn't find it too bad, I've had three treaments now and barely get any hair growth at all - and I've paid for a course of six!

What I found the worst is that damn smell of burning hair - makes me heave!

Totally worth it though!

I'll know that pain soon enough. Going to make a first appointment within the next month.. hopefully by the middle of next month at the latest.

Like you... I'm more than willing to deal with any of the pain!
