Oprah-financed film follows the process of how Sonny and Cher's little girl became a man

If you are of an age, you will remember him as the goldenhaired little girl who upstaged her famous pop star parents, Sonny and Cher, every time she took to the stage on their hit sitcom, The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, during the 1970s.

But, today, at the age of 42, pretty little Chastity Bono is no more, having physically and psychologically transformed herself into a man: Chaz Bono.

Chastity began the gender reassignment process several years ago and, last year, was legally declared Chaz Bono, a man, by the state of California.

In the trailer for the new Chaz Bono documentary Becoming Chaz, Cher says: "At some point, I'm going to have to start calling her him."

Becoming Chaz, which focuses on Bono's gender reassignment, premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival, where it was acquired by Oprah Winfrey's nascent cabler OWN.
