I had posted some cryptic T minus 4 months posts on my wall... without alluding to what I meant by it.

Basically that was my self imposed time line for coming out on facebook.

Well I just posted a note on my well entitled I can't make it 4 months... T minus zero and spilled the beans.

Not sure how it's going to go, although the first two people that responded have been supportive. Kinda scary in a lot of ways, though I'm also proud of myself for doing it.... I don't feel I should be ashamed of who I am, a fact I'm learning about and coming more to terms with every day.

I, too, just recently "came out" on Facebook. I was very surprised at how much support there actually is out there. :) If you need a new friend for support, feel free to add me. ;)

Makes sense to me, and it's a bit like trying out a show off-Broadway first :).

Noticing that a lot of my gay friends post stuff about gay issues on facebook and assume everyone knows they're gay, I've recently been posting links to trans news items, and films I've been watching, without any obvious comments relating them to myself, to see what would happen. A couple of people have taken the hint (in a nice way), and oddly, the only person who seemed to be awkward/embarrassed about is is a therapist (who's more an acquaintance than a friend)!

Good for you, and it's good for everyone else too who reads it, because it just brings trans reality more into people's normal sphere of life to challenge the media version.

Thanks my friends!

Would love to add ya Danielle

My only small concern really, is that it may have been an unnecessary risk... simply because I'm far from being out at work and to 'non immediate' family members and both non immediate family members and co workers are on my friends list.

Basically throwing caution to the wind and hoping for the best. More or less any fear of this backfiring on me, was negated and then some by the fact that I couldn't lie to myself anymore.... even on an online social network.

I'm not out to my family. They know I'm gay, but they don't know that I'm Danielle. I just recently had a discussion with my boss about transitioning at work. I now have meetings to attend with the CEO, Chancellor, and Human Resources (I work at a very large hospital) to discuss my transition and if I can transition.

So yeah, I understand. I'm at the point now, however, where I simply don't care anymore (although I really do). I'm Danielle Dawn Clark! It's not my problem if you can't see me for who I am.

I too came out on Facebook, I wrote a Children's Story about how a princess was forced to be a prince, and decided to become a princess again. My family loved it and got the true meaning! :) I also did it, so other people looking at my photos would not understand the true meaning, therefore protecting my identity.

That's so great!  ;D  I'm so glad "they lived happily ever after"! ;)

Wasn't sure how to find you, did a search through your name... didn't realize you were in your profile this whole time :)

Blond moment! Keep in mind I'm still presenting as male on there, going to give people time to read my note... and adjust.

Will add you all the same though! Once I do, my note "Can't wait four months T minus zero" was more or less my coming out of sorts.

Just sent a request your way :)

Although I did just post a copy of my current avitar on there under the title "free at last"

What an excellent feeling sister! At least you didn't get family members calling and crying about how much they support and love you! I hate crying  ::)

I recently decided to handle Facebook by setting up a new account for Melissa. I plan to use it to document my new life and things related to my transition process. I figured that rather than clogging Susan's with posts about what happened to me at the pharmacy when I went to pick up my E the new FB page would be ideal.

You can check it out here if you're interested: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002219281885 (or click on the globe under my pict to the left.)

I decided that I will just let my "Guy Account" fade away with time and take the friends with me that I really want to be in my life. Heck, I've got facebook "friends" from elementary school that lived next to me six houses ago, do I really want to update them on my transition? Lol.
