Hello All  :)

I have noticed that listed under the effects of HRT, it states that hair may grow in previously bald spots.  How common is this, or does anyone have any experiences in this area?

I think it depends on how long youve been bald in the area..... the less time youve been bald the better chance of hairs growing back are....  Most perscriptions for HRT include anti androgens which are also perscribed to either prevent further or help regrow lost hair.

If youve been bald in an area for too long, you wont experiance much if any regrowth but you wont loose anymore hair either....

Before I started hormones, my hair was thinning and receding in the front. I was using minoxidil before starting hormones and it was helping it grow back. After I started hormones it has been growing back faster.

Hmm that is very interesting. I always thought that once you stop using Minoxidil the hair would fall out.  I suppose that the hormones took over and finished the job.  Thank you everyone in advance for your replies!

I'm still using the Minoxidil. I have also heard that if you stop using the Minoxidil that the hair will fall out, but some others say it wouldn't after the testosterone levels are lower. I plan to keep using it, it only costs me around $7 a month, I buy it when it is on sale.

I used to have a very slight receding hairline (M shaped) and shortly after starting HRT, it pretty much started growing back (baby fine hairs) and it continues to get thicker.  I agree with LynnER about the length of time, as I have heard the same thing on some hair restoral products.

mine is a tiny bit bald at the back, (seriously slightly) and thiiner on top, either its my paranoia or it is, hopefully it will start to regrow, as when i started hrt, the hairs stopped falling out in the shower...

Interesting.  I still have hairs fall out in the shower, but most of my hair is SO thick (except the regrowth), that it's welcome.  By the way, having thick hair isn't "all that".  Your head gets really hot and it's difficult to style.

The actual chemical reason for male pattern Baldness is DHT a byproduct of Testosterone   so it is only natural that this process will slow down, or even reverse itself when you start eliminating Testosterone   levels in your body.

My hair was also thinning at age 35 when I first started HRT and it has all grown back. I certainly was not a sever case.

Sincerely,
Kristina
