I was wondering if anyone's read or come across the book "Helping Your Transgender Teen: A Guide for Parents" by Irwin Kriegar ( http://www.gay-therapy-ct.com/transgender-teen.html ) ? If so, is it worth the money?

I'm thinking of getting a copy for my dad. I'm not a teen but I think he still thinks of me as one and at 20 I guess I'm close enough; I'm in the young adult group.

Is it fairly informative with language a stubborn conservative parent would be able to understand and sympathize with, or is it a load of crock? And if no one's heard of it or read it, is it something you think you'd try or do you get weird vibes from it?

I'm just strapped for cash and don't want to waste it on something useless that will just confuse and piss off my dad more.

Also - any other ideas for books or literature I could send my dad's way to kind of drill it in his head that I'm for real and serious about transitioning?

True Selves, and Transgender Voices are both good, although the latter is more for the TS community.
