Sam-

I don't know if it's common knowledge that this book exists, but I've never seen anything about it before until I stumbled upon it at Borders the other day. It's a decent book, nothing amazing, but I figure some of you might be interested in reading it. The title is Parrotfish, it's by Ellen Wittlinger.

Hey, I hadn't heard of that book.  I like reading story books.  :)  I just placed a hold on it at my library.  Thank you.

I just read Parrotfish. It's weird how as a tomboy, I can identify more strongly with Grady in this book than I can with all these MTF characters in young adult fiction who long to be feminine. Plus this book is warm and funny and has a lot of heart in it, and approaches the non-binariness of gender well, for a change. Read it and weep/grin :).

I just finished reading that about a week ago. It was listed in the back of I am J by Cris Beam, so I got it from my local library.

A very good book indeed.

I wish my local library had such books.  It sucks though.

I've read Parrotfish and loved it.

Andy8715, have you asked your library about interlibrary loan? My public library is fairly small, but connected with other agencies across the state. It may be possible for your's to find Parrotfish for you even if they don't own it.

My local library has a pretty good selection of queer young adult novels. I checked out "Luna" from there.

For "Parrotfish," I looked it up in the county's online library catalog and found that it wasn't at my local library. So, I requested a copy to be shipped to my library so I could check it out.

I'm always doing this.

Hmm... I might have to check this out. I'm desperate for relateable characters. (I mean, you can relate to many characters in some way, but there's nothing quite like a trans character who's in the same situation as you.)

Thanks for mentioning it.
