  It is uncertain if I will change my name to Joelene due to my age, I like the name though.  I am still presenting as male, but that may change as I get more satisfied with my changing appearance and there are some potential serious health issues I am facing now, just waiting for the latest blood draw results.  I will let you all know.

You don't know me, and I only just signed up here, but I still feel obliged to offer my congratulations. Changing your name and title here is as easy as drawing up and signing a very simple document and requesting reissues of personal documents with your new name, so my name has been changed from the moment I came to terms with being transgendered. I was already Elly before even my wardrobe changed, and I always feel terribly sorry hearing about people like you in other countries who are already girls both inside and out, but are still forced to be saddled with a name that has all sorts of painful memories. It was exciting enough for me changing my name, so I can't begin to imagine how wonderful it is for you now. Congratulations, Melody! ^^

It can indeed be a struggle in certain states in the US, but not all of them. It is like a collection of small countries with their own laws and traditions that have been combined into one larger country.

Yes, I am female inside and out (with the exception of SRS), but don't feel bad about the hoops I had to jump through to change my name. The harder the struggle, the sweeter the victory!
