This is something that has been bugging me for a while, and I thought that it was about time I brought it up. Any of you guys ok with being called by your birth name? How about by certain people? I ask because for some reason, I let my boyfriend call me by my birth name (which I hate @_@!). I don't know why, but I do. It just doesn't bother me. Can anyone else relate?

I have gotten to a point in my transition where I would rather not go by my birth name anymore... The only people I still allow to call me by my birth name are my grandparents and my mother calls me A.J(a combination of my birth name and my chosen name) because that's where her comfort level is right now. When other people call me by my birth name, I am not rude about it but have gotten to a point where I correct them.

hope that helps

I hate when people call me by my birth name. I allow it from my grandmother but that's about it. When people call me by my birth name on accident I'll correct them. When people call me by my birth name on purpose (as my parents often do) I won't respond. Hope that helps.

I also dont like being called by my birth name. It's easy to hear it, but I have to cause Im waiting to finish college so I can change my name and everything. I like the name I chose for myself and love it when people call me like that.

No, never, and I would become borderline homicidal if someone did. But then I changed my name ages ago. :P

My ex knows...oh, and his family knows, but I never see them now that I'm single.

Most of my family still calls me by my birth name but it doesn't bother me because I am comfortable enough with my transition that if they do it in public they get looked at and I don't. Although that being said, most of my family live in my hometown and a bit of the rest live where I went to college so I don't care when people do it in those towns because that's who I lived as when I lived there. But if family came where I live now and called me by my birth name in public I would be bothered. If that makes sense?
The story is the same, I've just personalized the name.

My birth name is starting to irritate me. Badly. Unfortunately I can't be totally out though. But most people call me by the short version of my name, which is somewhat tolerable since the name I chose for myself sounds similar.

Borderline homicide, ever since I came out 4 years ago.
