Currently I'm in Thailand vacationing, visiting family, going along while my Mom gets cheaper plastic surgery, etc. But the topic I've heard most about here has been 'Ladyboys'.

They've been having this annual water festival for the Thai New Year, I know the name but I can't spell it. Neways, I was walking with my friend in Pattaya, and these drunk girls stopped me in front of the bar. Me and my friend read 1 of them as an mtf, she was the one who kept coming on to me, she even gave me a kiss (which I see the irony in, lmao) She was pretty though so I just went along wit it.

Anyway, my point is that there seems to be so many mtf's here o.O I haven't heard anything about ftm's but I saw a poster ad advertising voice surgery for both. It just, idk it doesn't seem real, why there's so many here and not the rest of the world, or, so many at all :3 I read that the percentage was like 10-20%. Thoughts?

So far I love Thailand and I may move here to become closer to family ^.^ and cuz, well, I could drive a moped around like everyone else

The water festival is called songkran. 

I don't think there are anymore MtF in Thailand than many other countries, just that they are more 'in your face'.  Transgenders are treated as a third gender in Thailand, however, they also face a lot more discrimination than transgenders in many western countries .  Many come from poor rural areas where village acceptance is difficult, so between non acceptance and discrimination have no option but to end up in busy tourist areas and gain employment as bargirls and prostitutes as a means of support.
