Hey everyone,
I had the pleasure of meeting with Kristi today live and in color. I very much appreciated it as I was feeling stressed over the events of my visit to see my son, the details of which you can see in my other thread.

https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,96834.0.html

We met at a local coffee shop and she looked great and at ease. After receiving our orders, we proceeded to sit outside and then the real conversation started. The next two hours and change saw us go over our histories and the inner-most thoughts we once believed as youngsters to be shared by no one else. We went over matters of the heart and matters of the soul. Talked about earth-bound and heavenly concerns as well as the thrill of being ourselves in public and finally able to express ourselves and travel to the women-only spaces we were always meant to inhabit as natives. We compared photos of our respective "other." Talked about the thoughts that haunt us and our fears. How our families were handling the news of their less-than-conventional paterfamilias and reactions from those around us. I think we said goodbye about four times as we seemed to delve into that one last topic that delayed our parting yet again. It was great and chicken soup for at least this one soul.

As I have always felt when talking to one of us, it was a relief. Simply refreshing to be with someone that understood intimately what I was experiencing and didn't need coaching or explanation. So often my time here is spent trying to make people relate to something that is as alien to them as walking on the moon. I could tell she shared the same inner longings and the melancholy.

In the end, we parted with hopes to meet again sometime soon. As much as I don't want to, I know I will have to return here again at some point. It is just unavoidable. However, for a brief time, I felt alright in this place. Thanks Kristi and until we meet again.

Your friend and sister,

It is always nice to hear when to members meet in real life.  It sounds like you two had a great time.

Yes it always is fun.  But I think it is so important too.  Sometimes we need a living body to just be with.  One who is not on the time clock, one we do not need to educate, and one who has no stake at telling us only what we think we want to hear.  Hmmm, I think that is called a friend.  As much as the net does a great job at helping us get connected, it is just no substitute for real life relationships.

Oh and besides, she is just fun and cute!

It IS great to take an online relationship and turn it into a real life friend. You are pretty attractive yourself!

I had the chance to meet Kristi last week and I had a wonderful time as well. I'm glad you both got the chance to meet up. It is very true what you say about being around another that you don't have to explain so much to. They just "get it".

Melody, let me know next time you are coming into town so we can meet up.  I hate that it has become so painful for you to come back home. Reading your experiences gives me much to think about as I'm probably not to far behind you and I expect my experience at home will be much like yours. It's scary as hell to think about  :-\

Have a safe trip back to Florida and don't listen to those that tell you that you shouldn't be in contact with your son so much. Just thinking about someone like a therapist saying something like that makes me so angry  :icon_chainsaw:

Hugs, Stacy

Hi Melody, that is really great that you got to meet face to face, I wish I could do that but I do not know anyone here where I live.  Hay if any of you ever come to Hawaii let me know, I love to meet new people, and I can tell you where all the good places to go are or even give a guided tour.
Aloha.

Oh yes I would have it no other way with the flowers and the special Maile lei, it is a leaf and it smells the best, a 4 strand Maile lei can cost about $60 or more, and everyone knows that locals know the best spots to go, I even know where to go and pick Maile :).
I think if you or Melody came by I would not be able to wipe the smile off my face, I would not need blush because I would be ticlked pink :)
Aloha.

Hmmm, really really really wish I could afford a ticket right now.    Just the thought makes me very happy.

Yes, it really is a blessing to meet someone IRL that we met here.  I've been honored to have met TWO such people, and share an apartment with one of them (Simone)!  It is comforting to know there are REAL flesh-and-blood people behind these avatars, and all the ones I've met so far are really NICE people, too!

I don't see how I'm being mean.... Kristi, with all due respect... Do you know what "mean" is?

Many of my posts are neutral. Like the one you're quoting is neutral.
