Hope you had a nice sunny easter weekend.
To cut a long story down a little, it is my birthday on thursday, so I have arranged with some close girlfriends to go out and about for a few drinks in full girl mode for the first time, which will be properly cool. But in the meantime, I thought it would be a good idea to have a 'dry run' or two.
As my new hair turned up last week (see pic..), and now that the laser treatment on my facial hair has removed 80% of it, I think I can pretty much pass without raising too many eyebrows (in spite of being 6' tall...)
One of my best GFs offered to go for a coffee with me on monday, which I thought was a great idea. Start small, nothing too overwhelming or intense. So I got ready and texted her just as I was leaving the house. She then stated (having forgotten to mention it earlier) that she would be around at her mums house all afternoon for her step dad's birthday party. A small family affair, but none the less with 7 or 8 people, several of whom I had never met, and most of whom didn't know I am trans. Until now that is... :-)
I was a little nervous, and paced around in my friends driveway for 10 minutes pulling myself together, then took a deep breath and walked through the back gate into the garden where everybody was sitting in the sun. And that was it. No fireworks, no major histrionics, my friend just introduced me as Amy and then the conversation moved on. I got a few compliments on my hair and makeup, and then we just sat around chatting for hours. It was really nice, and deeply affirming for me to just be accepted in a group of people, and everybody said that it just felt right and totally natural, and also that I am better looking as a girl than a boy. Which was nice of them :-)
Funny thing is, my friends mum had always wanted my friend and I to 'get together', so she did comment that that particular relationship ambition for her daughter was probably quite unlikely now, given the fact that I was now a girl.
Anyway, I haven't stopped grinning since, and can't wait for my birthday outing on friday, so much so in fact that I might go shopping with another GF on thursday, just for an excuse to go out in girl mode again.
