Hi! Consider checking out a university medical center, calling the psychiatry or psychology department and asking if they have a gender clinic or consultant. That way, you are pretty assured to find someone who knows what they are doing. You might pay some extra, but it will be worth it, and lots cheaper in the long run. I think I remember that Pittsburgh has good resources, but if you have to travel for a first eval, to Philly or such, OK, they will then refer you to someone they know does good work in your area. If you find there is a gender clinic in Philly but not Pittsburgh, call them for a referral in your area. Please get the best you can. You won't regret it.

You both may also want to locate your local GLBT organization.  These organization generally have contact info for support resources in your area if they exist.

Pittsburgh is a big enough a city top have resources. My daughter goes to college there so I know. Go to google and type in "transgender" and "pittsburgh". You will get about 297,000 hits.

In fact, Pittsburgh is about the most over doctored, over-hospitalized place in the USA.
