9 months. I base that on me changing my name... The reason I delayed was because I couldn't think of a name.

Before that and after infact I kinda just presented however and pepole drew there own suppositions.

Kia Ora Emily,

::)  I was on HRT for 18 months before I went 24/7, however I didn't do a Real Life Experience as such :icon_shrug_no:, because when I transitioned I was under the impression I would never be able to afford surgery, so when I started to live fully time I thought that was it, the time was right and by then society had already started to embrace the real me :icon_flower:...However, I was fortunate enough to get government funding for my surgery-by this time I had been living full time for 4 and half/five years...

I found for me, after 18 months HRT had finished with its transforming work[fat migration boobs etc=    :icon_chick: ] after which it went into maintenance mode...

I started my social transition before I started HRT, and I was almost full-time within about six months, and completely full-time within a year. There wasn't any one day when it happened; there was just the last time I presented myself as a man, though I didn't know that it would be the last until later. I got away with that by taking a semester off from school.
All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.

I don't think I really started RLE per se it kinda just happened, I based it on when the public started referring me to as ma'am, miss etc. I feel for me that that the true beginning of RLE as otherwise it would of been just a thought in my head. I changed my name to a unisex name around the same time as starting hrt. I was on hrt for around six months before getting ma'amed 100% of the time etc but I was and still am very androgynous (even now post-op much to my pleasure - tomboy ftw!) so there was no doubt a lot of confused people out there for awhile that avoided guessing :P

-2 months. Yes, I started RLE and then two months later started HRT. I also got my name changed legally 2.5 months after my RLE started so I guess I've done things a bit backwards from some people.

Well, I went fulltime 1 year, 4 months and 3 weeks after starting HRT.  However, my first 7 months of HRT were just a low dose of estradiol without any androgen blockade, so it was almost like a placebo dose.

While I don't pass, I don't care.  Life is good!  I'm enjoying myself immensely just being me!

Great topic.  Thanks for posting.
