I have noticed i cant go long without the need to pee. I use to could wait 8 hours to use the bathroom, since that morning would be my only time. BUT now, i think i go about, every 2 to 4. its also is very clear when i pee..almost as if im peeing water. Is this me or is this hrt??? 2nd day on hrt for me.

if you're taking spironolactone it is a diuretic so it makes you go more. ;)

I have a weak bladder as is, always have, but on hormones, I had to pee a lot more, sometimes up to a dozen times a day or more.

I am glad I am off Spiro now.  Not only do I take less pills with an Orchiectomy.  No T and no Spiro.  Tucking is so much easier.

I agree.  I got the full sha-bang and am really glad to not be taking any pills now.  Just one small injection a week and no tucking.

I want to be able to not have to tuck ever again  :'(

Your bladder may/will also decrease in size on HRT so you will need to pee more often.

Without grossing everyone out, do you notice the smell is different? You will

Yes, I noticed the smell.  Spiro will lessen your blood pressure a wee bit as well, mine was low to begin with.  Be wary of taking in too much potassium (easy on the bananas!).  This diuretic will not flush the potassium as with the other types.  Spiro was probably the factor of me not gaining weight.  That last depends on your own body.  You might have some tiredness due to the flushing.  Remember, replace the water you lost!  I drink a cup after I pee.

Re: Joyce

My Doctors have told me to drink a lot of water to help keep my system flushed out.  I once had a serious problem with my lymphatic system and had to see a specialist.  His diagnosis was there wasn't enough liquid in my body to keep things flowing.  Like you, I was going long periods without peeing.  His diagnosis fixed that.

Keep your system healthy and drink enough liquids to pee 6 or more times a day to keep things moving inside you.

Yes, my urine smelled way different after starting hormones.  It lost that harsh (male) smell.

Enjoy all the other changes, too.  You're truly a girl now.

That's because Spiro was and still is a blood pressure medication (one of its original uses before its anti-androgen properties was observed).

This is a big pet peeve of mine when ladies talk about Spiro:  Unless you have liver or kidney problems, you DO NOT have to stay away from potassium rich foods.  Though, it's still not a bad idea to watch your potassium levels on your regular blood tests.

There is no evidence for this conclusion.  Just because you have to pee more often doesn't mean your bladder is shrinking.  As others here have stated, it's a diuretic and is also given to people with fluid retention issues and this is why it makes you pee more often.

Note trying to be controversial E&P tend to decrease 'male' bladder size,

But I really don't care  :-* :-* :-* :-*

Yeah... more than once I've walked into my bathroom, and was like did my mom go in here and forget to flush?... until I remember all those wonderful lesser known effects of HRT. :icon_eek: :icon_blink:

I must say spiro is a trip, when first introduced, drove me up the wall, well, I had to hold on to the wall to stay upright :)
