1) How much do you bleed when you withdraw your needle?
2) How much and for how long does it burn/hurt after you're done?

TL;DR version:

I've noticed that when I or my fiancee sticks myself after he withdraws the needle I always bleed through at least one band-aid; even after I've applied pressure. I do have a bit of anemia and of course I always aspirate. So I was wondering how much do you guys normally bleed, apply pressure for, etc.

Secondly how long does it burn/hurt/ache at the injection site after you inject? For me it can me half an hour later and I can still feel it. Even in videos and in other guys posts I haven't really heard anyone mention this. I mean they talk about residual soreness but I donno I just get parinoid about a lot of things so I wanna make sure I'm doing it right.

1. most folks dont bleed at all and if they do it is a small bead of blood.
2. not long maybe 10 minutes

note you can hit a blood vessel and there will be more blood. Not ussualy something to worry about.
If you are too shaky or stab too hard the injection site itself will hurt for a few days.

1. I usually don't. Applying pressure lets me avoid that.

2. At worst, it might burn for 30 seconds if the blood is seeping back up to the surface (sometimes I will apply pressure to the wrong spot. I can't really see my injection site so it's hit or miss.)

Sometimes my leg will ache afterwards but nothing more than like a 2 on a 1 to 10 pain scale with 10 being the highest.

I wouldn't say the burning or whatever is bad. It's just noticeable.
So even with the anemia do you think I should be worried about the amount of bleeding? Like I said I aspirate and never see blood in the syringe so...

For me, the bleeding is variable.  Sometimes I don't bleed at all or there's just a drop of blood, and sometimes a lot of blood pours out and drips down my leg and onto the floor before I even get a chance to put a bandaid on.    This even happened once when a nurse gave me my injection, and she didn't seem to be worried about it.  I find that generally, if I do the whole process more slowly (take longer to inject, hold the needle in a few seconds after injecting, and then pulling out slowly), I tend to bleed less, but that's not always the case.  And you should bring it up with your doctor, but unless you're bleeding large amounts, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I usually bleed a fair amount. I tend to use gauze and apply pressure with that instead of a band aid. I do that for maybe a minute, minute and a half then put a band aid on. The gauze will have a large red splotch sometimes and the band aid has a small dot the size of a pen tip.

I get my injections done by a nurse, but I never bleed and it doesn't burn at all. Usually by the day after I get a dull ache in my arse cheek, but other than that, nothing.

So far, no blood and no pain.

I get stinging when I inject before the alcohol has had a chance to evaporate. I guess a bit of alcohol can get pushed into the injection site. That can sting like a mother.

Exactly the same for me. Although twice when I wasn't as relaxed as normal it hurt for a day or two after, so I make sure to relax then it's just the usual dull ache that comes the next day.

A few times, I've had aching afterward. On one occasion, I think the nurse just did a poor job. On another, I did it myself and was all tensed up. I injected just as my ex opened the front door, after he promised to call before coming home. Boy, was I pissed. And he didn't even apologize. Jerk.

A few weeks ago, I hit a nerve for the first time. Holy Mary mother of god. I yanked that sucker out so fast...and started all over again on the other side. But the pain actually didn't last that long.

On the other hand, I haven't forgotten that experience, and I'm starting to lose my nerve. Last weekend, I had to poke myself four times, and switch sides again, before getting the needle in.

I hope that doesn't happen tomorrow.

Arch did you switch needles? I bet it was really dull if you pierced four times and had to start over. I think the pain maybe because I'm usually tense. I mean like I said it's just an ache sometimes it burns a little when/if the T leaks out but I'm more concerned about the bleeding. It looks like most of you don't bleed much at all so it worries me that I go through a whole band-aid even after applying pressure. I think that I'll mention it to my doctor in a few weeks when I go for my blood work. Unless someone thinks it might be more pressing? I work in a medical field so I'm super precautions and I get so worried about everything LOL.

I wish it were a dull needle--then I'd have nothing to worry about. I had to try four times because I lost my nerve, not because the needle was blunt. It went in easy as pie once I finally made up my mind.

I rarely have pain or even discomfort afterward.

I do get a trickle of blood fairly often. Other times, just a tiny bead. It varies. I'm not sure why you would bleed noticeably every single time.

I get my injections done by a nurse as well though I did do my own for a few months and I only bleed/bled a few drops if at all in both situations. 

It only stings for a few minutes after maybe.  Sometimes it'll be sore for days though.  I did my shots in my thigh when I used to do them, I get my shots in my hip/butt area by the nurse. 

Why is it that so many thigh guys have a lot of issues with pain? Are they just not relaxing the muscle properly? Or am I imagining the higher rate of pain reports?
